A game made for me, Umurangi Generation is about vibing with your cool friends and taking pictures, and is secretly the best I Spy game since Spooky Mansion 1 and 2. I showed this game to anyone who would watch. Pretty rad.

The Orange Box of platformers, it’s a collection of work from one of the 2010s most talented devs. There’s even a pretty good Smash Bros. clone in there, and King of Cards is my favorite card game since Hearthstone. Bring on Shovel Knight 64!

It’s like Isaac but you’re a spaceship. It owns.

I can’t believe it’s been a decade since we got to watch FTL spread across the games industry like a wildfire. A game so good it broke past my aversion to play strategy games that look remotely like this. Your role as a fast-acting problem solver brings so much engagement to every encounter, the same way timed hits in Paper Mario make turn based combat actually interesting. Put out fires, teleport onto enemy ships, explore space… I should play FTL again.

A short and sweet text adventure with a bunch of alt paths and secrets. Makes for a very fun spooky October night. Excellent vibes.

A modern classic that helped establish Supergiant as an icon right out of the gate. Still my favorite thing they’ve ever done.

The best puzzle game since Portal, and probably the best since then, too. The Witness comes close for me, but this is that with more varied puzzles and not made by a loser. Inventive with 3D space in ways I haven’t seen since.

I will think about this game until I die.

One of my favorite 2D platformers that nobody played, almost up there with Mibibli. Bursting with ideas. And Matt’s making a sequel!

Probably the best Soulslike that doesn’t have Immortal or Unchained in the title.
