The game is absolutely amazing. When it works. So I really wish there was a Neutral review option.

As over the past few months the games stability has gotten worse and worse to the point where it's kind of a crapshoot whether or not I can play. Sometimes it runs fine, and other times it randomly freezes forcing me to restart my PC.

There are also the points about the devs poor balancing choices, seeming inability to fix bugs that have plagued the game since launch, and total lack of QA testing before pushing an update. But most of those aren't that big of a deal when the game is as fun as it is.

So I'm gonna leave my review as negative for the time being, as the game is in desperate need of some TLC updates rather than just more and more content.

This game is absolutely terrifying and I spend most of my time in the ship.
10/10 would watch my teammates die again.

Good game. Can recommend. Will make you ask, "Wait... It's 2am already?"

So, I got The Surge from my Humble Monthly and to sum it up, it's not worth it. It's similar to Dark Souls in a few ways, however, this game lacks the well crafted enemy/boss design, and fluid(ish) combat that DS can have when played right. The basic enemies are extremely bland, and the little drones are annoying as hell since they have a ranged attack capable of taking out half of your health in 1 hit with almost no warning. Then the combat feels as clunky if not clunkier than Demon Souls/Dark Souls 1.

But that's not what bothered me. What bothered me was the first boss. Basically imagine fighting Iudex Gundyr (From DS3), except you can only damage him after he hits himself with his own homing rockets that he won't even shoot until you hit him about 5-10 times with your slow ass starting weapon. Then half of the time when you hit him with his rockets they'll hit you as well taking half of your health. Once you do manage to hit him with the rockets, and not get hit yourself, they deal no damage to him and only down him for about 8 seconds. Then once he gets up you have to basically restart from the begining and hit him another 5-10 times to get him to shoot the rockets again. So after dying to him about 15 times, then getting 1-shot about 10 seconds into the fight, I just said "Screw It" and uninstalled the game. I wasn't even raging at that point I was just annoyed by the crappy boss design. In my mind first bosses should be straightforward with a twist at half health or something. Not require 10 different steps to even touch their healthbar.

Overall if you really like the "Souls-Like" games you'll probably like this one, just prepare for some of the slowest combat in a game that I've ever seen. But wait for it to go on sale, it's definitely not worth the $40 price tag.

I have been playing Warframe for a very long time, (791 hours at time of review.) and no matter what I always come back and love every minute of it. The combat/parkour is smooth and seamless, the customization is unlimited, and best of all the game never gets too easy.
Even after all my time playing and unlocking/building tons os stuff I've only scratched the surface of all the weapons there are to get. Then even with all my super high level gear some of the missions are still quite the chalenge.
The best part of all in my opinion is the multiplayer. The multiplayer in this game is what makes it so fun for me, having the ability to just hop in with a couple of friends and slaughter everything is priceless.
Best of all it never gets old.
