I don't really write reviews but after playing this game for longer than I ever expected I would and buying this game at release (sacrificing my baby for it, Desert Eagle | Pilot Minimal Wear) I want to vent my frustrations out and hopefully maybe change the opinion of at least ONE person. This review is very long and goes into detail for each component I felt like talking about, I made headers for your convenience


ONE PUNCH MAN: A HERO NOBODY KNOWS, is definitely is one of the most overhyped and worst games of 2020. It is a great concept, an anime like OPM with such diverse characters can create a great roster and it can be very easy to have new/custom characters, conceptually it sounds very unique to have a overpowered gimmick character in a fighting game. On release, we got a very barebone fighting game, with a One Punch Man sticker slapped on it. This game disappointed not only fans of the show, but it disappointed as a fighting game also.


In OPMAHNK, you are required to make a character when beginning the game, this will be the hero for the story mode. The character customisation is a design abomination, the easiest way to describe this is: think legos, but instead of using bricks, you are using pieces of the OPM characters in the show, so using Saitama's face with Puri Puri Prisoner's hair, etc. It also provides the option of using miscellaneous accessories placed anywhere, e.g a cardboard box on the waist of your character. This leaves customisation being mentally unfulfilling and VERY exploitable, as you are given very limited resources to create anything cool or unique to other players. This also translates into the game, many of the NPC heroes just wear a recoloured version of Saitama's costume and since there are no different body types, NPC Monsters are just recoloured humans with fish masks on or metal knight’s head.

For your character's combat, game gives you a handful of fighting styles with different moves to equip on your character which is nice, but in my playthrough I never really used the other styles besides the default because it’s the best.


The roster for this game is unfinished and confusing. It boggles the mind to try and find a reason why BANDAI cut some people from the game, and why they allowed others to be playable characters. Let's examine the most critical flop first, ROSTER IS MISSING A LARGE PORTION OF THE S RANK HEROES! Fan favourites do not exist, Zombieman? Nope. Flashy Flash? Na. Drive Knight? Drive Who? and Watchdog Man is a DLC character! It is just so disrespectful to the characters that they weren’t added in, especially as how others made it in. For example, why can we play as Tanktop Tiger and Tanktop Black Hole when we already have his frickin' master in the game!?! You're telling me they didn't add in a large portion of the S Ranks and instead we got... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Vaccine Man?!? They also unbalanced the roster heavily, since Mumen Rider is meant to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the show, playing with him just puts yourself at a disadvantage. Saitama of course, is the most cheesy and boring character to use, the only way they could balance it out is by using a timer, but that just means play defensively until he arrives. You can't even see most of his moveset unless you are using the weaker "dream" version.

Now, I would dare to say I wouldn't have been as upset with this game as I am if the gameplay was decent, UNFORTUNATELY! As I said before, this game is insanely easy to cheese, this game has essentially no difficulty gameplay wise, if you figure out the timings and which special moves are good and bad. NPCs are very brainless (even on the hardest missions) and other players have no control over their character if you can stun lock Stun Prison them. The only difficulty comes from artificial stats and XP you have to collect in order to level up your health, damage, etc. This game has RPG elements but just does so to create a difficulty barrier and unnaturally lengthen the game. In order to stir this bubbling pot of plain white rice and try to add ANY element of flavour into it. This game has random events, powerups will come down from RC drones! The goliath from the first episode will stomp down on you! That's right! There is RNG in this fighting game, you think skill always determines the winner? No! Now someone can just get lucky!

Don't let anyone fool you about the game having open world elements by the way! You are TRAPPED in a miniscule town with lifeless npcs. There is nothing added to the game by making an open world lobby, it’s just more work because you have to walk to the shops to buy stuff. Speaking of which, eventually you will have too much money to know what to do with, this game has almost nothing to buy, except for different coloured variations of the same furniture, which you can put in your apartment, which as I know of does nothing because no other players can visit your apartment.

The best way I can describe how this game plays is this: Imagine the fighting mechanics used in the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Series or Jump Force, now imagine that someone cringe tried to port the game over to roblox. Imagine they had to cut a lot out to make it work, like substitutions (which births prevalent stunlocking), removed tag team moves and power (ruins roster comp) and a lot more!

The worst part about this game is the story. The story is just essentially a rehash of the first season, however with YOU in it! Your character tends to just be there, lingering around Saitama and you replace Genos for a lot of the scenes, such as when Saitama fights Genos for training, it is now you fighting Saitama. Fights in the story are programmed so the odds are zero that you will lose, this is to show how [] weak and pathetic [/i] you are and how the chad Saitama can just kill everything in a single hit. It feels asinine to play these missions; you don't have a slither of a chance of winning just to instantly win after you lose.

This game is also Creatively Bankrupt , OPMAHNK is a game with ZERO
reason to exist canon-wise. This game adds absolutely nothing to the game whatsoever! No new concepts, no new areas, no new plots. You can get the same experience of the story just by watching the show! It’s meant to be based on the events of the first season, so somebody please tell me why Fubuki is here, besides the game pandering to the opposite sex.

The side missions have no depth to them, it’s just “stop the monsters attacking the city!” and that’s all it describes, no b-plots, nothing… with a setting like OPM with all the monsters, espers, kung fu warriors, cyborgs, I’m sure something really cool could have been introduced as a game-only plot.

When you do get to S-Rank, there is no ending to your character’s story, Saitama doesn’t come out and suck your ♥♥♥♥, you just unlock more of the same missions to do.

Or lack thereof. This game doesn’t care, you expected that much? This game has dialogueless npcs, undescriptive side missions, no customisation. I just wanted to talk about some stuff that didn’t really fit in the headings. The game’s voice acting is okay at best and diabolically cringe at worst, a few of the monster voices do this really virgin line to introduce themselves “don- do- don’t- AHHHH IM SORRY!” and I use a killer move called the one inch punch and my character always says “This is it!” before punching no matter which voice I use.

If your character has six bars of power they can go into a super sayian mode and unleash a ultimate killer move, however, ⅔’s of the roster are missing a killer move and ¾’s of the roster are missing special costumes for when they do activate that mode (silver fang rips off his shirt, Saitama goes serious faced, etc)
