Can't even play a game I own anymore, without letting all of Tim Sweeny's investors salivate at some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ metric like "increased user registration" and "elevated user engagement rates" or what not.

I'm not making an EGS account, and I am not supporting Epic nor their awful anti-user practices.

Early Access Review
While DOOM and DOOM: Eternal peer into what different path FPSes could have taken had they not gotten stuck in the quagmire of CoD-like shooters, ULTRAKILL feels like the summation of several decades of DOOM:Eternal-like shooters, it's incredibly far ahead of all competition, and it's frankly staggering how well-crafted every single aspect of its gameplay is, all finely tuned with the singular purpose of making the most frantic, gripping and hectic shooter to ever exist.

I hesitated in buying this DLC.
The dilemma is that I am normally against political statements in video games, and the hat is not making the feeblest of attempts of pretending to be anything but.
That said, it is iconic enough to convince me to buy it, after seeing it in action, both during gameplay and cutscenes, I knew that I made the right choice.

Definitely recommended.

I'm actually leaning slightly toward scientific notation these days.

Yeah, no.

If a sequel was released exclusively on EGS, I would understand it as first-party exclusivity.
But removing an existing game from the store just to spite people? That's a nope from me, it's not even like they're pretending it's for simplifying support, Steam will still be supported, they're just removing it from the place where it gained its biggest traction as a final "eff you" to the fanbase.

Extremely unique game in gameplay, presentation, visuals and even story.

Lucas Pope is one name to watch out for in the indie scene.

On the surface it looks like just another No-Guessing Minesweeper.
Many algorithms exist to ensure a randomized Minesweeper game where no guesswork is needed to solve the puzzle, but Pony shows in their game Delete that algorithms are still not yet at the level where they can match the ingenuity and the fun-factor of hand-crafted puzzles.

I wholeheartedly recommend this to any Minesweeping enthusiast.
One word of warning however: the game is pretty short; I managed to get through all the puzzles during one meeting (around a 90 minute affair), and that was with me imposing a rule on myself to never click a square unless I had a mathematically-sound reason to do so. €1~€2 is an acceptable price for this kind of handcrafted experience.

Beautiful presentation.
Engaging gameplay.
Likable cast.
Did I mention the beautiful presentation? This game is gorgeous and single-handedly sparked my interest in Warhammer Fantasy Battle.

In case you are wondering why so many negative reviews, it mostly deals with broken (delayed) promises by the devs. And people raging about Ultra-rare cosmetic drops being too ultra-rare. And before you think it's a ploy to get people to buy them since they drop so rarely, there is no way to buy them either, they are meant to be a mark of distinction for the most dedicated and lucky of players.

I was asked below why I like this game but dislike Vermintide 1, here's my answer(s):

The variety and specialization this one brought along in gameplay, the insanely good map design, and the fixed loot system.

The different career options really add a LOT of variety with some clearly defined roles necessary for a party to succeed, while still not typing them out for you, leaving some wiggle room for personality, specifically in the weapons customization, an Ironbreaker with a Two-Handed Hammer plays VERY differently from one with an Axe and Shield, likewise for the ranged weapon with an Umgak Thrund rifle bringing a completely different set of advantages than a Drakegun flamethrower. Yet all those weapons I mentioned (and more) are available to the Ironbreaker.

As nice as the atmosphere was nice in Ubersreik, it was not the best city to show off the Empire. The new setting in Helmgart and Ussingen is CHOKEFUL of vistas, and not the useless type either, but vistas that look grandiose and unreachable at first, but in reality are simply showing you your vertical path of progression. Ever climbing upward toward the heavens, or ever spiraling deeper into the abyss.
The map design and character interaction is so good that it made me spend 120 Euros to buy Total War Warhammer I and II just so I can immerse myself more in the world of Warhammer FB.

Lastly the loot.
If you look at Fatshark, it's clear it's a game company that has made its living copying Valve in everything.
Lead and Gold was their attempt at Team Fortress 2, and Vermintide 1 was their attempt at L4D.
Don't get me wrong, as far as companies to copy, Valve is one of the best, and to manage 50% of their usual quality level is a huge achievment, Fatshark clearly learned more from it because they replaced the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ gunpoweder barrel sections where one person had to grab the barrels while the rest have to protect him (Payday 2 bag management simulator style) with sections where you simply stack the barrels in a cart and then simply push it toward your distination, now this is clearly "POOSH ZA KART, ENTIRE TEAM IZ BABIEZ"-inspired, but the reason I bring this up is because for once Fatshark actually beat Valve.
Yes, Fatshark found a gameplay solution to a problem Valve always complained about in their Dev Commentary: players valuing health kits above all else.
They mentioned in L4D2 commentary that they added the Defib Kit and the Ammo Packs as a solution to that problem, one that ultimately failed because the MOMENT someone spots a medkit, that ♥♥♥♥ is getting dropped for the almighty red cube to take its place.
Fatshark figured out what's stronger as a motivator to the human psyche than simple "self preservation" Medkits.
Human Greed.
You can forego healing items to grab Tomes that take the same slot as Healing items, in exchange you get better LOOT!
And then they slammed the point down in Valve's face by making a second item called Grimoires that are even WORSE than Tomes in terms of self-preservation: carrying a Grimoire literally takes 33% of the ENTIRE TEAM'S HP BAR, and you can carry TWO of them for a 66% decrease, and yet guess what, people go for BOTH Grimoires at all times, because ♥♥♥♥ Self-Preservation, Greed is where it's at.
You could stand to learn something there, Valve.

TL;DR While being to Vermintide 1 the equivalent of L4D2 to L4D1, they made the game specialized, varied, and more Killing Floor-ishly technical, the maps more open, vertical and Dark Souls-y and the loot system more dungeon crawl-esque.

Just adding my voice to the rest.
I expected a short Metroidvania that was good.

I got a masterpiece of environment and level design. Worth every cent.
