Dead Space is a remake all remakes should be judged by: it is not cutting content, it does not rework story, it does not downplay any dialogue and it does not make you wonder what the bloody hell the developer was thinking in their design choices. It is unchanged from the original save for some very noticable changes which do not detract from the original in anyway. They only add to it.

Dead Space does what other horror titles do not: It oozes creep. Thick, viscous creep that crawls along every square inch of the game from the masterful sound work to the horror of dynamic lighting. The treads of Isaac are an ominous dinner bell, the slathering screams of putrified enemies are visceral and raw, and the details of their damage to the slain crew of the Ishimura are in high fidelity detail. Play it like it should be played: headset on, lights off and only you at home.

Town Portal spell (free to spam use) resets the map. With that in mind:
I found an unguarded loot chest, I looted it, cast town portal to sell due to full inventory and went back through.
The chest had respawned in exactly the same place, unopened and ready to loot again,
I have been cheesing this method of replacing gear on my toon and generating cash for the past 20 minutes, Surely this is an oversight.

Early Access Review
Nightingale has fixable issues, which as an early access title is no real surprise to anyone, but currently those issues are what make the game less than appealing for me.

The tutorial area feels underwhelming, This is not necessarily a bad thing and you should try to not let it dissuade you from continuing through the tutorial zone. While there are some additions I feel would make the tutorial zone far more appealing and involving - such migrating the shelter and bedroll, and basic tools crafting portions to the tutorial island in order to compliment the campfire and cooked berries quest.

I have two main gripes that prevent me from wanting to play for extended periods of time:

The first is the lack of a target tooltip for harvestable resources. While there is a floating list of what is being actively collected, actually knowing what is available for collection before harvesting would be a dramatic improvement. Better yet, if the developers make harvesting a discovery system, that would make things enjoyable, also.

My second gripe is that I have never been a fan of UI panels sporting a bright background with dark text. In an era of accessibility options becoming more prevalent in modern games, not having the option to change UI panel colours and offer higher contrast settings is an unfortunate thing to see not presently being an active feature. I hope to see such changes made available in the future.

The ancestry system is a fun idea that I genuinely like, but which I find unnecessary for character creation. I hope to see a randomiser option, potentially a pre-defined set of ancestry options and the continued manual option.

I feel this is a game I can retain in my library and keep an eye on as improvements are made.

I went into Starfield expecting not much more than another Bethesda title and I experienced exactly that. I strongly urge anyone who is curious about picking this game up on special to keep that at the forefront of their mind.

I've come to realise that Starfield is not much more than an interactive advertisement for the modern Bethesda formula of game design from beginning to end (and to beginning again). You make a character, you select a backstory, you elect a playstyle, you interact using a moral compass and you complete a main story quest that tells you how the game formula for replayability works with every other modern Bethesda open world hame such as Skyrim, Fallout and now Starfield. Clever.

I have played many games in my life, of which a rare few have broken my heart to the point of needing to take a break in order to compose myself. Stray happens to be one of those rare games which strikes me to the core with its bitter-sweet dagger. I wish to reach through the screen and adopt every single one of these lost, fuzzy darlings. Yet I cannot.

As a life long cat owner (although now not so after the passing of my last furkid), I am empathetically wired to their body language, trills and meows which this game has so wonderfully emulated along with the attention to detail in their animations. Tie all this up with environments evokign a sense of loneliness and their level of exploration and you've got a game that elicites a need to reconnect this namless trooper with theri family and friends.

From the start I knew this game would break me somehow and it certainly succeeded in doing so. Buy this game and hug your cats for comfort. You'll need it.
