One of the oldest (and best) roguelikes out there. Updated graphics, effects, and UI from the old postcard-ware versions. Ongoing development.

Epic quest, multiple endings. High chance of death. Proceedurally generated dungeons with a fixed overworld map.
Extensive equipment and artifact list.

Best and deepest roguelike you will play.

My experience, similar to many others, has been dissapointing.

I did not come into this game expecting something other than what they had promised, a living galaxy to explore, and the possibility of running into other sentient players in the vast expanse of space.

What I got, was a boring waypoint-jumping game, and if you wanted the best stuff, your best option was to sit onboard the same space station for a couple of hours, buying the 3 valued items for that system from the visiting traders and selling them to the market.

The devs promised a lot of things in their hype vids, and some things they delivered on, but the vast majority they have not. The biggest being the multiplayer lie.
They must have known that multiplayer was bugged (or most likely just absent) at launch, and obviously just assumed that noone would find anyone else in the vastness of space until they'd had a chance to patch it. They were wrong. Sean lied openly about this in promos, saying that people would definitely be able to interact with the world alongside one another if they managed to meet up.

All in all, it's a great engine, greatly lacking in content that was promised. Unfinished game at best.
