This is a hesitant recommendation.

I loved EVERYTHING about this game, except for the price.

I'm glad I got it for cheap, because I would not be a happy camper if I paid $25 for this game.

The game, overall, is adorable. The characters are cute, the fast travel side quest had to be my favorite, Tanooki is a gem. If you want to run around as a cat in a city knocking stuff over, this game has you covered. For the price, I would expect more content in it, though.

There are a couple side quests (not a ton), alongside the "main quest" of getting home, the few puzzles that the game expects you to solve are intuitive. I found all of the dialogue charming and the interactions between characters rather funny.

But, having 93% completion in the game after 5 hours of gameplay, is not worth $25 to me. (The things I have left to do are achievements like, Be Pet 10 times, Recycle 100 times, etc, which I plan on getting, but are more of a grind at this point than "gameplay". Not to mention the 30 minutes I spent idling on the title screen that one time). I don't find any replayability in this game, unlike what was advertised. I've experienced the story, explored the city, done all of the things.

For a game titled "Little Kitty, Big City" the city is rather small in the grand scheme of things.

I understand this is an indie dev team, and that they need to be paid fairly for their time. I just could not justify spending $25 on this game. As their debut release, this was a great launching point, though! I look forward to seeing what else they come out with in the future.

Cute and funny game, had a blast, but MANY new features are needed.

The ability to change servers between private and public so we can have randoms and friends join in the same lobby.

Having a list and naming servers would be great because a ton of little kids play it and I don't wanna play with little kids.

A bunch of bugs need to be fixed and the game itself is janky in the controls with major audio balancing issues.

Even in its current state, though, its fun and playable IF you have a group of 4 people to play with.

For any members of the queer community reading this: As queer as this game seems on the surface, it isn't, really. My review definitely goes into that, that's just my first preface.

The positives I have for this game- amazing soundtrack, cute animations, if you're looking for a nice platformer with some porn in it, this game could be for you. I came for the queer concept of changing your gender to solve puzzles, and stayed for the gameplay itself. I definitely liked the gameplay of this game all the way through.

Now, on to what I found disappointing..

The biggest gripe I have with this game is having an inherently queer concept (changing your gender to solve puzzles) and then not utilizing it to its fullest in porn scenes. There are almost NO gay sex scenes, and the only reason I can't say that there aren't any is because there's like 2 girl-on-girl scenes.

On top of that, there is only two "defeated" animations per area. Die to a giant Goblin in the Goblin area? Still get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by the goblin girl if you're in dude form. Die to any of the bosses? There's no special "boss defeated" sex animation, it's the same as the rest of the area. I just wanted the little guy to get pounded in the ass by the giant statue in Tengoku, is that too much to ask for?

I get that making an animation for EVERY enemy would be labor-intensive, and likely beyond the scope of the game, but dying became frustrating very quickly with only one animation to see per gender. If there were even like, 2 animations per gender per area, it'd be a little bit more fresh than just having ONE animation. Or even just an extra boss defeat scene.

Another gripe that I had is that all of the bosses were women. It's always hilarious to see the bosses with giant titties bouncing around as they bash you, but I was really hoping to see at least one dude.

As my final point.. All of the ladies' costumes seemed really well-thought out and interesting, but it feels like little to no care was put into the guy's costumes.

Spoilers for Costumes:
Outside of the witch's costume and the Priest costume, imo, all of the guy's costumes are sub-par. Most of them just consist of different color shirt/tunic + pants, and a unique hat and sometimes shoes, or costumes based on enemies in the game. Which, I don't want my guy going around looking like the enemies in the game.

The Goblin Costume is at least a hoodie, but it's not one that I want to be wearing around all the time.
The Piglin Costume is a reskin of the Goblin Costume with a different head on it, as is the Rat Costume. But there's also a weird nose and eye color difference in the rat costume. The problem is that it looks ugly.
The farmer costume is just a tunic, pants, and the weird hat. The angler costume is a straight recolor of the farmer costume with a different hat.
The alchemist costume is a recolor of the hoodies from the enemy costumes, but has a different hood and the face is blacked out with yellow eyes.

Meanwhile, all of the ladies' costumes are different, featuring different types of dresses, body suits, and hairstyles. It would take me at least 5 times as long to describe the female witches costumes because they are that complex compared to the man's, even featuring different idle animations on some.

It's very clear that a lot more "love" went into the women in this game than the men. For such a queer concept, it's tailored heavily to the gaze of heterosexual men, and it wasn't what I was expecting at all when I picked it up.

All of that being said, I liked the gameplay, it just seems like all of the care about design and animation went into the women of the game. Most of the animations for the boy seemed uninspired, as do the costumes. It just wasn't what I was looking for in the porn areas.

TL;DR If you're a heterosexual man, I'm sure you'll like this game in both the porn and gameplay aspect.

Early Access Review
I really loved this game. Would recommend playing in the beta version as it has a lot of QoL features and more content.
I've played 28.8 hours 9 of which were in the Early Access before switching over to the beta.

I don't usually leave reviews, but I've enjoyed myself immensely in this little world and my only qualm is that it isn't bigger and have more creatures and things in it.
As for core gameplay aspects-
I completed all of the encyclopedia tasks in the beta and upgraded my storage to max, even after the end of the main quests the game continues to be charming and lovely. It's nice to just hang out with. I look forward to playing it a third time when the full release comes out. I could spend forever in this game maxing out everything with how much I enjoy wandering around the world, collecting materials and interacting with the characters.

When it comes to characterization, Ellie and her hat have such a cute dynamic. I wish we knew more about them from before Little Witch in the Woods. I'd play a game about her in Witch School and hope in the final release that we actually get to go to Highlion- or that they make another game where we get to go there. I want to explore more areas in the world and interact with more creatures. Everyone is so charming and the pixel art style (both in game and in the portraits) is super cute and I hope we learn more about them in future updates.

I cannot praise this game enough- if you're thinking about picking it up, please do. One of the most pleasant and relaxing experiences I've had with a game to date.
