Classic loot shooter, not sure on the Destiny but I played for a short time was enjoying it as a time kill then the ADHD level 40s spam AOE one hitting every mob while speed running their friend, while I was doing a quest in the public quickly stripped the fun.

Good for killing time, dire for longevity.

TL:DR - Enjoyed the game, great time killer, has the bones to be a amazing game, lacks immersion. will come back and revisit my town.

I've always enjoyed playing games that are challenging and rewarding, and for the first 10 hours this game was it. My first village went a little like this:

Built 5 homes -> built 2 hunting lodges & 1 wood cutter = died first winter.

second village that is still alive now after 19+ hours is still going, the game has a steep(ish) learning curve that once you are over the game becomes a people sim and house building simulator.

By far the hardest and most common resource to manage is timber compared to anything else, for me that had me recruiting an army of log cutters just to build homes and tearing down entire forests.

After the first hour of city building I had more gold than I knew what to do with and resource gathering effectively became unproblematic because I bought everything I needed via the harbour. While selling chunks of my 40k+ food I could never shift and/or eat.

This game boasts a unique social system that is true for the most part, though it hasn’t massively impacted me as the lot of the decisions are based on common sense. But you effectively have 2 core groups of people to please and both break down to 2 more sub categories both requiring certain luxuries that are more complex to create than the previous group.

The game lacks immersion currently, I would like to see trodden paths being developed as the villager’s hustle and bustle around the forest fields and towns and actual use of the paths created. I have seen villagers walk over water to complete a task (at this time bridge are pointless).

Houses play no role in the day-to-day life of the villagers, they don’t need to be in a radius of any work buildings, villagers don’t seem to sleep or get tired or feel overworked. They purely increase the cap and ensure happiness, and flesh out your building.

Immigration to your village/town cant be cut off so one minute you will have 50 villagers the next you will have 100 and a housing shortage then a timber shortage and so on.

I would also like to see automatic trading as shipping a stack of 700 of a singular resource per harbour one by one and then waiting for the timer to run out is slow.

Summary:

All these points are minor and easy to overcome, but to summarise my feeling of the game is to say this has a great potential to be a fantastic city builder and I will look forward to seeing it fleshed out.
