This was the worst video game experience I've ever had.

The tutorial at the beginning just went over how to move and use abilities with the tutorial character you selected. That's it. It doesn't explain how to actually play the game modes. I listened to the tutorial as best I could but neither me, nor the 3 other people I was playing with understood how to actually play the game when we went in.

Not that it really mattered because the game play itself wasn't fun either. To start, the game is horribly optimized. I was getting 30-45 FPS in game using an RTX 2060 at 1080p. The game doesn't have really good graphics or anything (even on high) so that leads me to believe that it's an optimization issue. Another specific problem I had is that when I was playing the avatar looking sniper girl her grapple just wouldn't work 80% of the time (and yes the ability was ready). It would extend and retract extremely quickly. And when you DID get it to work the grapple physics were horrible. If you jumped while trying to grapple to actually get over something it kicked you off. So basically you end up flying into a wall no matter what. This is likely just me being spoiled with Titanfall 2's grapple physics but even this should be better than its current state. My friends had some similar issues with other characters not being able to reload/use their abilities. One of the biggest issues I faced with the game play was the balancing. Oh my lord. There is one character (you probably know who I'm talking about if you played even a single game with him in it) that is just brutally overpowered and will absolutely annihilate anyone. Finally, you move so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slow in this game it makes me feel sick. Literally only A SINGLE CHARACTER (from what I can tell) CAN SPRINT. And the rest have to use abilities with large cooldowns for better mobility (except that one overpowered character).

The game severs weren't good either. I constantly had ping issues despite having fairly consistent and good internet. I double checked with my friends and they were having issues too. This could just be a day-one issue, but I thought I would mention it at least.

If you enjoy this game, that's wonderful, but, unfortunately for you, I can't see this game surviving for very long to tell you the truth. I can see this game completely dying in a month or two to be perfectly honest and shutting down in four or five unless they haul in some major changes very quickly. Even when that likely happens I don't see myself even trying it just because of the sour taste this game has left in my mouth. A cynical side of my tells me that they released this game when it wasn't ready to capitalize on the pandemic, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.

This game felt like an insult to come out on my birthday.
