Its near perfect.
It captures the feel of tabletop roleplaying. Its even got a Dungeon Master (Narrator). At the time follows up on the plots from Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 and the D&D Adventure Baldur's Gate Descent into Avernus. Its challenging, it makes your decisions significant, it doesn't insist on holding your hand all the time, and its not afraid to experiment.

You should be warned. It deals with adult issues - like colonisation, segregation, racism, slavery and sex. It doesnt preach though - in fact it doesn't really have a morality allowing you to chose your own reaction to these issues (assuming you don't chose to play a Paladin in which case the oath you chose defines acceptable responses).

Okay - as I said, its not quite perfect. The camera is annoying as hell, but other than that its perfect.

In have really mixed feelings about this game.

The game is both beautiful, atmospheric and spine tinglingly creepy. The game also benefits hugely from the VR visuals. In fact I'd say it’s visually astonishing. The audio is also really well done, with some great spatial sound.

The puzzles are well presented, engaging, logical and just the right difficulty level to present a challenge without being impossible. You'll frequently find yourself stumped for a minutes, but never for hours.

But the weak implementation of motion controllers, really drags down all the fantastic work. The pressure required to pick things up is way too low meaning that everything is held in a vice like grip making putting object down difficult. Your hands don’t actually seem to interact with anything, happily clipping through all the objects in the game. When you are holding things your hands will inexplicably snap to objects the item can interact with, and if you hold onto something immobile like a door handle you can then walk away leaving your hands behind.

However I have hugely enjoyed the time I've put in so I'm giving it a thumbs up. It’s worth buying. It could be so much more though, and I really really hope the developers work on the hand interaction because as it stands it really lets the game down.

Great game. Really accurate to the tabletop card game.

This is absolutely brilliant.

Usually I'm very dubious about a seated game. One of the beast things about VR is the ability to move around within your play space, so the very idea of a game where you dont move much raises doubts. However from the first moment I started playing I couldn't stop smiling. Even the main menu is highly polished and immersive.

I played the tutorial first, and the started the single player campaign. They were astounding, but as it turns out nothing compared to multi-player where the action is. I've hada single poor game due to a language barrier, but other than this one game its been brilliant.

Note: It offers the option to play with a gamepad, but to really appreciate this game play it with a motion controller (eith the Vive Controllers or the Oculus Touch)

Played for 20 minutes with Trackpad locomotion on high speed (not very high). It's fast, its manic, it's crazy and it was a complete blast but I feel a little sick.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll manage 25.

There are areas which could do with improvement. I tried the teleport - I didnt like it. They need to borrow some ideas form Vanishing Realms there. The AI - well its rotten, and the cut scenes are weirdly viewed from above, which feels wrong in VR. But having said all that, I feel it was a fantastic purchase and I'm very happy with it.

Even considering its free, its still not worth space on your hard drive. Its appalling.

Everything is blurry as if the renderscale is incredibly low, the tracking is strangely off so much so that the screen showing the controls (which should be a stationary bill board with information) can make you nauseated if you move your head, and there is appear to be constant frame drops.

As for the game itself - is rather run of the mill.

Update: There is a manual fix which involves a few tweaks to the ini file, and makes the game much much better. Good enough that once they just change the settings in the default install I will change the review to a thumbs up, however until they do this is staying a thumbs down. Even with a free game we shouldnt have to manually alter an ini file to make the game vaguely playable.

Full details of the fix can be found in this thread:

Short, fun, clever, brilliant.

It only takes about 4 hours to play through, but somehow manages to pack more into those 4 hours than a game ten times its length. This is a must buy.

Its yet another wave shooter :(

But it puts all those other wave shooters to shame. This game is amazing fun. Probably my number 2 Vive game so far (Vanishing Realms is still top)

I love this game.

It’s been a few years since I played the genuine thing but to me the physics feel spot on. The ball goes precisely where you'd expect, the slight tap as you hit the ball is perfect, and the level of immersion is immense.

I would rate this game right up there with The Lab, Vanishing Realms, Holopoint, Pool Nation, Raw Data and The Gallery as one of the very best games available on the Vive.

My only gripe – you can’t hit balls out the open window in the basement. They just bounce off.

Great game. Should be in everyone’s library.
