When Hopoo first announced that Risk of Rain 2 would be 3D, compared to its 2D prequel, I was a little on edge. I'm certain that anyone who played the original can agree with that. However, needless to say, I was not disappointed. Even when I played the game ages back when it was first released in early access, it felt like a genuinely finished product.

But what is Risk of Rain 2? It's a roguelike third person shooter where you find yourself ejected onto Petrichor V - the same foreign planet as the first game - and once more find yourself fighting for survival. Among a horde of alien creatures that work overtime just to make sure you're dead, you find items and trinkets that serve to make you better at defending yourself. Take the Lens-Maker's Glasses, which increase your critical hit chance by +10%, or the Hopoo Feather which gives you an extra jump to help you better avoid the tsunami of fireballs and laser beams firing your way.

You fight through waves of enemies to get money, you use the money to purchase chests which offer you better items, those items help you kill enemies faster. This cycle repeats until you reach the teleporter, where you must fight a boss. Once you kill the boss and charge the teleporter, you get to move to the next stage. This cycle repeats until either you die, or you finish the game.

The soundtrack is phenomenal, the gameplay is adrenaline-pumping, the final boss is great. Every enemy is unique looking, and functions in different ways just to make sure you're dead and buried. All of the playable characters are fun in their own right, and they can all beat the game comfortably (some may have an easier time, however).

Would absolutely recommend.

Ah... Another horror game... Let me guess, you're walking around, trying to find a certain thing, or get the hell out of a certain place?
Yeah. How wrong that statement was. That's exactly what I said before I started this game up for the first time.
In the end, you aren't walking around. In fact, you're doing the opposite. You're sitting in a claustrophobic, dark room. The only things accompanying you are a fan, a cupcake, a poster of Freddy ( With a honkable nose ), and a few pre-recorded messages.
You aren't going out to find the antagonists, either. They are looking for you. ( And by the gods, are they shifty. )
A magical place for kids and grown-ups alike, where fantasy and fun come to life... Yeah, get the carpet bleach ready. The animatronics who skulk the pizzaria may seem a bit friendly at first ( Or not, if you die on night 1 ); but trust me, those little demons aren't what they seem.
But in all honesty, this may be one of the best horror games I've played in a very long time; it's definitely worth each dollar.
And there's also a sequel coming out soon. The hype is real.

This is probably, so far, the best game I've ever played.
The community is very good, the game itself is amazing, intense, and above all, it's fun to play.
I would totally recommend this game to those who don't have it.
