Fun little deckbuilder! It's a nice mix of chill but strategic, and the art/music is top notch.

Awesome little game, really enjoyed my time with this. The pacing is super tight and they do a great job of keeping things entertaining.

Had my eye on this ever since I saw some of the lovely background art floating around online. Now that I've had the chance to play through it, some thoughts:

* The combat system is easily the most unique aspect of the game. It takes a bit to wrap your head around, but once it clicks, it's very tactical while also allowing for more expressive, freeform play. It can be a little imprecise at times, but you can instantly restart combat or retreat most of the time, which is really convenient. I wasn't a big fan of the ghost mechanic, but you can turn them off in the accessibility settings which is nice.
* The skill tree system is well done, it feels like you're constantly unlocking meaningful new abilities for combat. Items are powerful too, which makes your loadout choices feel important.
* The art and music are stunning, they do a great job of bringing the world to life.
* I really enjoyed how the game was broken up into a bunch of little encounters, it does a good job of keeping things varied and interesting. (Especially when you have access to different options depending on what items you have.) This system isn't perfect though, a lot of times it feels like it funnels you into combat regardless of your choices. And in the situations where you can avoid combat, the pacifist decision is frequently to ignore the encounter entirely, which is a bit of a bummer.
* The dialogue is probably the weakest part of the game for me. While the worldbuilding and setting are really interesting, the writing felt tonally inconsistent. The game's occasional self aware sense of humor wasn't for me I suppose, it felt like it undermined the more serious story the game was trying to tell.
* There were a number of bugs and performance issues I ran into, but nothing game-breaking.

Overall, I really enjoyed it! The unique ideas and mechanics it executed well on far outweigh the flaws. Definitely give a it a playthrough if it looks interesting to you, it feels appropriately fleshed out with being padded (my playthrough took about 18 hours)

One of the most tightly designed games ever made, even 1000 hours in I'm still regularly finding new interactions. 10/10 no notes

As somebody coming into this with no nostalgia for old school open world games, Dread Delusion has been a pleasant surprise! The whole Eldritch angle is super neat, and lends to some striking imagery with the color scheme the game employs. Exploration is consistently satisfying, with items and even entire areas tucked away in every little corner. I'm also surprisingly invested in the writing, it strikes a really nice balance between silly bits and more serious moments.
Definitely recommended to anybody who likes exploration and interesting dialogue.

Really excellent concept and execution from what I've played so far! This game has a killer art style, and all the seemingly disparate game mechanics of a soulslike and a deckbuilder come together in a super interesting way. Looking forward to playing more of the demo later, and definitely worth keeping an eye on the full release!

Early Access Review
Super cool concept for a game! The aesthetic is incredible, and they use it to great effect to get a lot of mileage out of simple mechanics.
My only criticism thus far is the level design, as it feels a bit overly obtuse past the first key. I could not for the life of me figure out where the second key was, the area felt a bit too sprawling and empty to get a good sense of positioning. Though the giant skeletons and skulls did help a lot with landmarking, and I was able to use those to orient myself.
The way the enemies work is also odd, in that they keep their position rather than resetting when you die. They're also placed in ways that it's difficult or impossible to sneak past them, making feel like I'm intended to do a death run to draw them out, then run past them on the next life once they're out of the way. Not a bad mechanic per say, but definitely unusual.
The sound design is also really neat, it sells the wild VFX well.
Overall, it's a really unique experience, and I'm glad I checked it out! I would maybe consider reworking the enemy placement/level design a bit, but that's really my only criticism
