And did I mention that was just from playing the initial TUTORIAL level? Yes, That's right this company has it -SO- together they made the Tutorial an online part of the game despite the fact it's a tutorial versus one AI opponent..

If you are a fan of any of the quakes, Even the ancient original one, Steer clear of this. Your ping will thank you.

I had this game on my WishList for the longest time because I was a bit iffy on the concept of it but thanks to a gracious friend I recieved it for my BirthDay and after a bit of play, I find I'm enjoying it a bit so far.

The basic premise is your typical procedural roguelike dungeon fare, Only in first person with a 1980s viber and general shooter feel. At first, You're presented with a character you can edit and customize a little and your first "Cooler" which is what they call pre-war cryogenic facilities. You have the option to take a tutorial, Or skip through the tutorial which is rather well presented whichever option you choose it feels a part of the story. Either way, Once inside these areas serve as your "Dungeons" and each seems to have a theme.. (Cooler A or "C-A", Your first one for instance, Appears to have been built for scientist and doctor types. No doubt there are other such facilities for civilians and such later.)

The entire purpose of these delvings is to find radioactive beer.. Which if drank will give you a "Perk" of sorts on the character who drinks it, Making them pass out and return "Home" with all their stuff and the new perk. This is an interesting mechanic as each Cooler has several floors, And the further you go down the more chances there will be booze with "Useful" perks while the higher up levels nearer the entrance will have more useless beers or lesser useful ones. It always breaks down to whether you think you can survive the harder areas and find better booze, Or return home and save your current build. Even if it means drinking a beer for a perk you might not want..

Whether you make it through the first facility or die, You'll eventually find yourself in a 'home' area. This will eventually be upgradable and can be used to store your crap between areas. Via certain objects and conversations you'll also unlock other coolers, Friendly settlements and hubs for services you can access with your car from here. Although when you die, You are presented with a random character, Customization, As well as more options for customization, Will come with upgrades to your home later so don't worry too much.

I enjoyed the humor of the games, And once you unlock your first settlement area you'll find yourself presented with npcs and characters and quests and things. Between the various characters, Locals and descriptions on the objects, The usual Adult Swim humor shines through which might be good or bad depending on your sense of humor.

Two mechanics I didn't like too much are the limited initial carrying space, And the "Timed" Hunter enemy. On each floor, There's a invisible timer ticking down that eventually releases a "Tank" type enemy called a "Purifier" into the maze with you. He stalks you and although you can outrun or even sneak past him depending how you play your character build, I found it annoying to be pressured into racing through each level or face losing my character. Fortunately there's a mod included in the files for the game that can disable him, With the only apparent drawback of doing so being not able to post scores for courier runs on the leaderboards. This is entirely optional however, And some people might like the faster hectic play of leavng that Purifier mechanic in there.

Overall I will give this a 10/10 and myself a kick in the butt for not having bought this earlier.

This is hands-down a love letter to the Original Metroid and the 8 bit era action and exploration titles I was instantly reminded of the First two MEtroid titles, Blaster MAster, And the cutscenes from Ninja Gaiden from my plays so far. From the moody, Atonal soundtrack to the level design and atmosphere this title oozes charm and polish and it's not using it's retro appeal or theme as a gimmick, Easily standing on its own as a solid game. I've but played a tiny bit of it so far and right off would reccomend it. In fact I'm looking to buy copies for my brothers.

You know how great a game is when you can't even access the 'Discussions' as that button brings you to the store page instead. Meaning fixing the fact it won't run at startup is impossible to fix. 0/10.

Endlessly, Dubiously scanning the "Under 2 dollars" games list with the pitiful toppence in my steam wallt when I spy this game.. The store page didn't look like much, But the reviews mostly pointed to a hilarious experience so I take a chance and buy this game..

Upon getting past the settings interface doubtingly setting the graphics to 'fantastic' in a tongue-in-cheek sort of manner I play my first round.. Couldn't figure out how to move my guys and noticed the AI bots cheat on easy (Using SHIFT to spin around). Finally learn to move ONE set of guys, Lost 7-0.

Second match, Managed to figure out how to switch to my other team of guys using the number keys.. Figure out how to use SHIFT correctly, Win 9-4.

Third round after buying some novelty stuff with my pitiful winnings, Found out I can get all four of my guys AND the goaler to shove the entire opposing team, AND their ball down the field. After a furious struggle of tug-of-war we pushed everyone AND the ball in the goal and won 8-3.

Prognosis: Best one dollar I ever spent.

My only complaints are the backround sound loops badly (Needs to be cut seamless) and has random disjointed voices of people talking. Likely recorded, And the lack of some method of making your own parts shirts or heads, And no online multiplayer. Despite the few flaws though and an 'unpolished' feel that some more serious gamers might avoid this is hilarious fun, Especially if you take the time to set up keyboard/joypad or joypad/joypad local play.

9/10. Looking forward to the PS4 mega HD director's cut limited edition preorder collectible metal tin-and-biscuit remake.

I was gifted this game from a friend quite by surprise and from the moment the game started up I was assaulted with horribly addictive levels of CUTE.

But I digress, You wanted to know about the game.

It's highly polished, Everything feels like it fits in, With an overall cell-shaded J-Pop aesthetic that just fits the whole theme of rioters vs "The Establishment". Normally I'm not all too fond of games with that strategy/puzzler feel to it but I found myself repeatedly going back to beat my score if only just to unlock more critters or see more stages.. The abilities are fun and by unlocking different ones in the dispenser as you unlock coins to use in it, You find levels that might have been too hard to get a 'perfect' score in might prove easier to redo. The game does seem a bit unforgiving at times, Where losing ONE guy might drop you just below the tier needed to make it through a level alive or at all eaasily and some levels that have unique objetives such as guiding and guarding a cart through a series of checkpoints frustrated me.

All in all, I would suggest this game, Especially if you like cuteness and a good challenging strategy game and don't be fooled, There IS strategy. From knowing where to go in any given area in order to maximize your effectiveness, To avoiding police on 'stealth' missions to knowing which abilities to set from the sdispensary.

Would have liked to see the ability to 'dumb down' or skip particularly hard missions, But overall I'd rate it a 9/10.

10/10 - Would FAIL to music again.

If you jump into TROVE expecting to build a beautiful house right away, This pack is for you as without it, You might spend more time than you like looking for those primal blocks.

The starting boat and bike are nifty, As are the helmet and wings although myself I haven't really figured out what all the fuss is about wings they DO look cool!

Also three pearls which I suggest you hold onto until you start finding your first decent stat rainbow rarity item. Using them too early would be a waste.

Overall, 5/5 as you get quite a bit for what you pay for considering.

Beautiful, Very, Very, Very dark game. Explore! Enjoy the narration! Have your paladin snap and start being abusive to the other party members. The other party members snap and become abusive. The only one holding the group together was the cleric who sadly snapped herself and turned to the bottle.

10/10 Would put all my heroes through rehab again.
