Before you read this, Know that I've been playing modding and mapping for Quake 2 since its release and I tried really hard to love this title since they forced it to update to 'ReRelease', I really did.

At first when Quake 2 launched on Steam, This was just Quake 2 classic except easier to access and manage as part of the Steam Library. Easy to install, And just Quake 2 classic for the most part. You could run all the old mods and maps, You could use mapping tools without issue, swap DLLs to your heart's content.. It just worked as it was expected to.

Then one day I reinstall Quake 2 out of the nostalgia to makes some old maps and found it.. 'Upgraded'. At first seeing the glow textures, hearing surface footsteps change with material and seeing all the Enemy AI completed from the limited implementation in the original Quake 2 I was quite happy. Being able to use assets from CTF or other mission packs in the same unit? Crazy!

Then I tried to make my own map, Only to realise the .FGD files with all the new entities, surfaces and lighting hooks was only compatible with Trenchbroom and would not work with J.A.C.K. Secondly, Even if you finished said map as a basic Quake 2 3.20 style map without any extras and tried to run it with Arghrad lighting.. The new in-engine lighting system would break any lighting that fell on a skewed surface. Meaning you're either stuck with generic Quake 2 lighting or are forced to use command line tools after your vis pass brush by brush as needed.

The ultimate insult however is the complete lack of dedicated servers or any apparent way to load up a map short of loading one of the defaults and then using the console to jump to the map. And matchmaking now uses that bloody 'start a room, use this random join code' crap modern shooters use now for online play.

I've actually had to dig up my old Quake 2 3.20 CD again to reinstall it from there.
Bethesda, Why must you ruin everything you touch of late by trying to 'improve' it. You're surrounded by engine mods that have been doing it right for decades and NOT TOUCHING BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY.

0.3 hours was all I needed to sum this game up in 0.3 sentences:

Pretentious cash grab.

Pros: Fun gameplay, Decent repeatable physics, Fun characters and themes.

Cons: Matchmaking nonexistent (No player found ever.), Editor extremely basic compared to existing courses, Game abandoned for new zen minigolf project.

Prettymuch par for the course as far as Zen projects go. Great game but they've already moved on. Pick it up cheap with the free DLC for some fun local play but if you're looking to play with online folks there's more consistent matchmaking options out there.

Play for the single player, Crash for the Freelancer mode.

Oh and don't try to get help in the forums. The Moderators have a funny idea on what's 'Toxic' and what's 'totally acceptable behavior from our fanbase'.

Absolute shart game.

Grinding is beyond MMO levels of stupid.
It's just another 'collect all the seasonal crap' simulator.

The devs also have this habit of promoting 'causes' not because they genuinely have any interest in said cause but because it's a free way to promote this shart game.

Did I mention they'd also rather ban users for 'racism' and delete their posts than stand up for Woman's rights or even acknowledge things like Sharia law exist?

Double standards. Double standards EVERYWHERE.

There's better MMOs and Block games out there to support. This is just a money machine for the devs. 0% creative effort, 150% reaping the shop.

This does exactly what it says it does and so, So much more.

Quality is what most people are curious about with these kind of apps so I will say that playing sound clips is crystal clear. None of that 'dead silence' noise before a sample plays or 'screaming bee noise' most other override mic apps use. As long as you take the time to set up good samples and your sound settings this will do everything brilliantly.

As a professional Preston Garvey impersonator in FO76 I can say that Preston liked this.

It's minigolf. It's challenging. Hotseat is a thing and should be an option in more games these days so you and your mates can enjoy passing the wireless mouse around and cracking wise about how over par they are.

Usually I avoid Battle Royale stuff like the plague but this game.. THIS GAME.

It's the usual BR premise: Large map. Tons of people with just melee weapons parachute in. Everyone gathers weapons and kills eachother off till only one remains while a barrier that kills closes in around the field pushing all remaining players towards a tiny part of the map.

What stands out here is the utter simplicity of it.. Between the cute animals dealing unspeakable death.. The weapons and 'vehicles' or the 'post-aparkalyptic' aesthetic this game feels extremely polished and is fun to the point of.. Well, I kept putting off reviewing the game.

Would play again. Would buy copies for friends.

Again, Just stating the amount of polish in what they've made so far is just.. Brilliant! There's a demo, Grab it and see if it's for you!
