Over the two years since this games release I have had a lot of time to ponder and discuss this game with friends and strangers alike, and with the arrival of the DLC soon I thought I'd update my review and give some quick thoughts on the game.
Elden Ring is a massive step down from previous Fromsoft titles.

1. It features the most boring world and story they have ever released. This is the first game I have seen from them where the Lore is legitimately unintelligible.
2. Garbage balance for PvE and PvP (full of one shots and broken gimmicks) and PvP is unrewarding with no real reason to even engage with it.
3. Pointless padding with awful side dungeons and a pointless open map to trend chase.
4. Second half of the game is comparable in quality to DaS1's second half with any exploration you'd find in the first half of the game is removed.

This might be the worst game modern Fromsoft has released. Will the DLC fix any of these issues? Maybe, the lore being the biggest one. If the base game is anything to go by the DLC will likely just be more of the trash they had during the second half of the game. I honestly wish I could get a refund. Go play better Fromsoft games like Sekiro, Armored Core 6 or the Dark Souls trilogy.

They somehow managed to make a combat system that is really in-depth with tons of variety an absolute snooze fest. The game isn't that hard, unless you count bad game design as "difficulty", and even then it's easily broken. I was wanting to finish the game but I really can't bring myself to do it, it's just that tedious to play. Setting is cool and character creator is nice at least, but if you're looking for anything that will keep you engaged you best look elsewhere.

Pretty good. Despite having a ton of anime tropes and a weaker story than I would have liked, the two main characters are exceptionally charming and the gameplay loop is incredibly satisfying.

How anyone can recommend this terrible PC port with broken co-op is beyond me. Only buy when 343 decides to fix the stuttering, crashing and de-syncing (which is something they don't seem interested in doing). As it stands, co-op has been completely unplayable for my friends and I as the host sees bizarre glitches and everyone else begins to experience slowdown and sluggish, unresponsive controls. I highly recommend against purchasing this if you want to play online.

Painfully abysmal UI design.

Outstanding art, music and atmosphere on top of a finely tuned and creative RPG battle system. This game is an improvement on the first in every metric. My only issues are the janky controls for the 2D segments and platforming, but those are minor enough to not weigh down the experience in a significant manner.

With the perfect mix between a fair challenge and old-school Castlevania difficulty, Curse of the Moon 2 improves on the first in every way I can imagine. An easy recommendation.

If this game taught me anything, it's that not returning library books deserves a punishment worse than death.

I am about to go over 1000 hours of game-time in Grim Dawn (with 10+ characters) and I can safely say that my favourite part of every playthrough is Forgotten Gods. FG has some of the most visually stunning locations and well designed enemies (with the final boss being my personal favourite encounter in the game.) While the story isn't as long as AoM, FG features a massive story act that takes your character to the Eastern lands of the Korvan Basin. It features one powerful class, tons of loot that even make previously weaker class combos powerful, a new game-mode and a ton of quality of life features (e.g. item set transmutation)
The Shattered Realm is great for testing the limits of your character and its random elements are a blast, the devs have been working to make loot feel more satisfying but when you reach the higher levels you'll get drowned in gear.
Overall I can't recommend this expansion enough for fans of Grim Dawn.

Ashes of Malmouth is everything you could want in an expansion. Expansive story content, two new powerful classes, tons of gear to add to your overflowing storage space. It's great!
