This game has the best gameplay in the series hands down, but the story is such a disappointment. If you haven't played the other games or don't care about the story it's not really a negative. If anything it might be seen as a positive for new players due to its simplicity. The game takes itself far more seriously than previous titles which can be a good thing at times but takes away from the charm the series has had in the past. Many of the missions feel irrelevant to the plot, only really picking up in the last three or so missions in chapter 1. The game doesn't really hint you into the motivations of the villain until the last few missions and then it relies on an exposition dump at the end of chapter 1. Sure in MGS1 you don't really understand the motivations of Liquid (or know he's the villain) but you organically learn about the story through codec calls/other bosses. MGS V doesn't really have any bosses, all you're left with are the briefings from Miller which don't really contribute much.

Chapter 2 is also a disappointment with a glaring unresolved plot point. Turns out it was cut from the game entirely. Again many of the missions feel like filler with the exception of a couple. The plot twist at the end of the game really doesn't carry much emotional impact nor implications for the later games. I get that the game is sandwiched between Peacewalker and MG1 but it feels like Kojima really dropped the ball. MGS3 was also a prequel yet there was still an emotional impact around the boss and it massively expanded on the story.

That said the gameplay is so good it's still a must play. The sand box is exceptional and you can finally play using KB&M. Base building, enemies adapting to your strategies, the openness of side-ops, the list goes on. It's just a shame we couldn't have gotten a better story to accompany such a well designed game.

This game made me change my mind about Raiden. He was cool in MGS4 but the focus wasn't really on him like in MGS2 or MGRR. I was actually hyped for his mission in MGS GZ after playing Revengeance. The game is over the top and stupid but in the best way possible. Combat is a joy, story is simple but who cares. Great OST and bosses.

Early Access Review
The game has a great art style and is tons of fun with friends. Progression is predictable and combat is simple but the game can still be challenging at times especially if you lose your gear in one of the later areas. It's stunning that such a small dev team managed to create a game like Valheim.

I'm going to assume that they'll fix the (many, many) bugs so I'll omit them from my review. Going into this game I hadn't really followed it much so my expectations weren't that high. But it still managed to disappoint me.

The in-game mechanics are shallow. From the crime system, to the fact brain dances from vendors can't be played, horrible AI (both in fights and on the street), etc. It doesn't sound like much when you take one of these aspects on their own, but together they just make the world feel shallow and empty. The gunplay is passable, but nothing to write home about.

The story is alright, I'd definitely recommend at least watching the endings as they're interesting. By far the most irritating thing is the dialogue with NPCs. The game gives the impression that your choices matter but in reality nothing matters until selecting the ending. There are a couple of quests where your decisions can change the ending but it doesn't feel like the outcomes have weight (see the Delmaine questline). I absolutely hate it when games give the player the illusion of choice but it ultimately doesn't matter. That basically summarizes the whole game. The writing is passable, but the conversations suffer from Fallout 4 syndrome. By that I mean vague dialogue options and when you intend to say something one way but your character takes it in a completely different direction. You also rarely interact (if at all) with NPCs after you've finished whatever mission/storyline they're a part of.

Aside from the dozen side quests the game is full of repetitive tasks (go here kill x number of people, retrieve this, etc). Maybe I'd have more patience for this stuff if the game was fun mechanically. I don't know, again I never bought into the hype and wasn't expecting too much, but it still managed to disappoint. Just go play Fallout NV, it's better in virtually every way except the graphics. Or Deus Ex if you're looking for the cybernetic aspect.

It's Halo, what else do I need to say? The campaigns are stellar and customs are just as great as I remember them. MCC definitely had its rough spots bug wise but most of that is ironed out now.

This game and its devs are awful. I've had countless, often gamebreaking issues. From time desyncing between scenes (leading to enemies respawning immediately), to quests breaking (having to repeat the same part of a quest over and over again until the game decides to save your progress or quests not progressing leading to a soft lock), backpacks disappearing, etc. This game's issues are numerous and make it near unplayable as you're constantly backtracking over lost progress.

Issues aside, the game is clunky with shallow mechanics. The only enjoyment I've derived from this game is in co-op. The story is boring and the voice acting is atrocious. I've seen Skyrim mods with better voice acting than this.

The devs have yet to fix the bugs listed above and they provide few tools to enable the player to fix it themselves. The debug menu is extremely limited and it's near impossible to resolve quest issues with it.

There is fun to be had in multiplayer. But that's not a selling point of the game. Anything is fun with friends. With the devs having just released a lazy DLC (which largely rehashes existing content making it easier to obtain) at half the price of the base game, it's safe to say I won't be getting it.

I started this game on the Wii over a decade ago and only now got around to finishing it. What an experience I was missing out on... The world is gorgeous and the art style keeps the game looking great even 14 years later. The characters are all interesting with their own quirks and stories. You genuinely feel like you're growing alongside many of the main characters. Some of the humor is extremely cheesy but it's nothing that can't be overlooked. The combat isn't amazing but it's unique and doesn't detract from the experience. Despite the slow start the game culminates beautifully. What an absolute masterpiece. If you're looking for a Zeldaesque game with a novel spin look no further.

What a classic. I remember playing this game way back in the day on the Wii. The timeless art style, witty humor, and amazing OST hold up just as good now as they did back then. This game is a must play.

Genuinely don't understand why someone would play this. Simply practicing at your own pace and studying relevant techniques is a way more effective use of your time than this game will ever be. I guess it has more flare to it than watching videos and learning from TABs but ultimately that's what is going to yield you more results. It's a pain to get the game setup so you don't get horrible delay. Plus you have to use their cable. You don't have the option of using an existing audio interface (yes I'm aware of some program that's supposed to enable it but it didn't work for me). That's not to say there isn't any value in this game. Some of the mini games could be useful if you're trying to master bends or string skipping but it's not like you need a game to tell you you're doing it right. No hate towards anyone who enjoys Rocksmith but it definitely isn't getting my recommendation.

An amazing DLC for an amazing game. The sheer amount of content in Monster Hunter World is stunning and the game continues to be updated with free content. However, I still really wish Capcom would remove Denuvo as it is anti-consumer and causes performance issues. It's only a matter of time before it's cracked anyway.
