EDIT:
PLAY THE REANIMAL DEMO INSTEAD!
And despair over what this game could have been if it was made by people who care.

It feels like a lot of the positive reviews of this game are bought / astroturfed - Hardly theres a good thing to say about this besides the art.

Is it little nightmares?
Far from it. It lacks any depth, environmental storytelling and memorable characters that made the first two games so great. (The Ending is literally "It was all a dream, or maybe, it wasn't???" )

But, is it a good game?
No. If you enjoy your time, play something else - please wait for reanimal.

My biggest frustration with this game lies in its unreliability in action: things have to be repeated bc the game decided to randomly kill you ( Looking at you chase scene into a pile of leaves THAT FOR SOME REASON HAS GLASS SHARDS IN IT THAT KILL YOU THAT YOU CANNOT SEE BEFORE FALLING INTO THEM?!), Gameplay mechanics get forgotten, replaced, not choreographed well or in an interesting manner, and the level design gets atrociously monotone sometimes, and the controls, oh god - enjoy getting stuck on every doorframe you strafe, spamming shoulder buttons just to check everywhere if an action may show up or not. Its a mess and its gonna leave you with a bad taste in your mouth because the "puzzles", and i use that word lightly, don't revolve around an actual set of rules, but an arbitrary "no you cannot ledgeclimb here even though the previous ledge of the same height was accessible". This is across the entire game.

My Friend and I just pushed through the slog in the end. We mad we paid money for this - wouldn't even recommend on a discount, because of the frustrations and unreliability this game brings.
Youre times better spent watching paint dry.

Art is nice though.

Wow - as many others, landed here through eurothugs video, and man, this was so fun - i want more, so much more. I like the story they told, and what they done with it all, it feels right.
On Sale, not on sale - its well worth your money and time. the soundtrack is banging. the atmosphere lovely. the world strange and fun.

A Tip for newcomers - you don't need guides for this one, but you do need to pay attention to your environment - certain things only will happen at certain times...

Floorplan has been some of the greatest fun that's there to be had in VR, just make sure your room is big enough to maneuver a bit - there is no locomotion (sadly).

DISCLAIMER: DON'T BUY THE GAME YET .
Hours played at the point this review was written: 1.5h

[TL;DR]
A mix out of Kung Fury and Mirrors Edge, with old school movement. It is fun, but it is clearly an Indie game, and the game doesn't quite work right yet (Inputs aren't always recognized), leaving you very frustrated, especially in parts where you have to time your attacks; will update this review once it has been fixed.

First off, I want to say: Since the first time I played the demo, I was in love with the game; its controls and gameplay was quick, fun, and precise. Now, well, we will get to the latter later.

THE GOOD:
  • The Gameplay:
The Gameplay feels solid. I wish some things (like f.e. that you are able to block bullets) would be told to you from the start, but even without them, it's easy to have fun. The movement and air-control reminds me a bit of counter strike, which i think helps this kind of game a lot. The quick respawn is very nice as well, taking away from the frustration a lot.
  • The Soundtrack & Soundscape:
The Soundtrack & Soundscape are amazing. The Soundtrack hypes you up for the slashing and dashing just right, and the sounds make you feel very powerful during your attacks.
  • The Universe:
The Universe feels interesting. Not exactly a fresh take on Cyberpunk, but a welcome one.
  • The Graphics:
The graphics are done beautifully; The shaders are stunning, models have a decent quality across the board, and it feels very round stylistically.

THE OKAY:
  • The Story:
The Story isn't quite able to capture me: At the point where I'm at, the characters feel very one dimensional, leaving a lot to be desired. I am expecting a twist of some sort, but all in all, its the usual "Zero to Hero" story, with it building you up to fight the BBEG.
  • The Voiceacting:
Not great, but also not horrible. The script feels lacking, leaving conversations to end abruptly in some parts, characters switch emotions way too quickly (SPOILER: When you first hear the distress call from the leader of the rebellion, it transitions way too fast from "Can anyone hear me, I'm the last survivor" to "Oh yeah no of course I'll help ya! Swing by the shop my dude, well fix ya right up with all the goodies ye can get!" ), and overall it is missing the polish and depth of other comparable games & dialogues.

THE BAD:
  • Bugs:
Bugs (who would've thought) are a big dealbreaker here. While the demo worked perfectly, the final game is full of them. Wanna jump on something that is close to a light? Ah, so you wanted to climb up the light, only to fall to your death. I see. The biggest issue I have with the game OVERALL is that it doesn't always recognize the mouse Inputs; meaning, its completely random if you will attack the second you press the button or not, as well as grab onto hooks, letting you die a lot more than you would've if the game was working correctly.
  • The Leveldesign:
Sadly, I had to put the level-design in here as well, since it varies a lot in quality, as the levels are many times completely confusing on your first or second run through; It is not obvious enough where the player has to go, and figuring that out takes a lot of speed out of your movement, leaving you more vulnerable, and not having a good time. The game itself isn't that hard, but I wish they would've made it clearer where to go, and build some levels completely differently, so that you could preserve your momentum more and actually use the fluid movement this game allows you to create.

FAZIT:
Overall, it is incredibly fun, as long as it is working right. The jumping and slashing, the abilities as well as the dashing and time-slow all feel solid, but if youre unable to attack thanks to a bug, it makes you feel cheated. The story isn't revolutionary, and you can not expect some bioshock-level storytelling, but that is also not the focus of this game; it very clearly is the Gameplay itself, which is fun. The Graphics are good, definitely not on the level of f.e. Starcitizen, but honestly, who needs that much fidelity.
I wasn't sure if i should've recommended this game or not, but then decided to do so. It is clear that the developers have put a lot of love into this, and I really hope they are working on getting the bugs fixed as best as they can, and make this the slaughter-freerunning game that it was meant to be.
