boring and grindy, now with more meaningless guns, monetisation is ridiculous.

In its current state its fine. however UI is a bit of a mess and low player numbers makes it hard to find a game during the day.

Having played DoW 1 and 2 campaigns, i was hoping to find a similar style in DoW3.

As i don't play multiplayer, i rely on a solid single player experience.

Unfortunately, the game's campaign seemed a bit disjointed, as you change race between each mission, meaning that you don't have much time to learn the race characteristics and play style.
The single player missions i did play, i found uncompelling and slow without the need for tactics, as you're able to keep building units as long as required.

I refunded the purchase as without a meaningful campaign, i wasnt entertained for long, so i am quite disappointed, I hope any upcoming expansions can correct the campaign issues and open this iteration up again.

UI design was frustating, and at the time of playing, there wasnt a method to change mouse sensitivity.

~Really enjoyable. main story campaign about 15 hours long. however lots of side quests and areas to explore for better equipment.

However, game occaisionally crashes for various reasons. a solid 8/10 from an action RPG fan.

Fantastic game,

Great game play, decent gfx and captive story lines. simple upgrade trees and sensible upgrade targets add to the game's compelling arrow shootin' vibe.

a triumph for the tomb raider games and a bench mark for the genre.

Would recommend

Having played a few hours of Heroes and Generals once the servers had come back online after repeated DDOS attacks follwoing a ban wave for those found to be cheating, i could do little more then wonder why clocked up as much time as i did.

Right now the game is still in BETA, so some of these misgivings might be corrected in the future.

The game as it stands at the moment tries desperately to become a good shoot/strategy game, however despite it's efforts it falls sadly short.

There are 2 paths to take in H&G you can either be a hero (green coloured machine gun fodder) for which this review is based entirely upon , or a general which adds an RTS element similar to that found in Natural selection.

As a hero you're expected to march into battle and capture control points for your team which will then in turn give your team resources. When one teams' resources reach the limit that team wins. This gives the game conflict zones which attract players from each team creating some interesting battle scenarios.
there are a few maps out there with a few types of weather thrown in for good measure, and the design from this point of view isnt bad at all.

The game play at times feels little slow and clunky, something that might improve with age. none the less it seemed too obvious and too frequent to constantly forgive. All too often you would move your soldier near a bicycle or jeep and by the time you have the ability to operate the vehicle you've been murdered by a sniper. Control responsiveness also felt distant at times, but then also good at other times.

The game operates a 3 currency system.
hero points - the ones you earn for playing as a hero.
general points - the ones you earn for playing as a general
gold points - the ones you buy for real life wonga.

the hero points could be spent on weapons and attachments for your various items when you accumulated enough of them.
The game also hides its best weapons right behind a paywall (where no amount of hero points will buy these weapons). so it could be considered pay to win. That's fine i thought, however it became even more obvious that the game really wanted me to spend money when even some of the more basic weapons or accessories that cost more hero points than can be accumulated in a reasonable time frame. (whats reasonable to you may differ from my expecations), but having played a few hours of it i found my self not really any better off in terms of weaponry. The vehicles out there such as the tanks could be destroyed using equipment bought with hero points but the price was far too high considering the amount of times you would encounter one.

The game also runs an achievement / medal system which in turn improves your soldiers abilities be it running / damage resistance or hula hooping while juggling with knives. This is a good part of the game. However again i didnt think that the time invested equaled the right reward for your effort.

If you have the time or the cash to throw at this game you might well enjoy it, however i found it to be a bit too demanding for time without the reward to back up your efforts.

Not recommended for now.
