I want to like this game, but I can't recommend it when the first game is better in every way. Saber Interactive clearly has some big fans of the franchise in their midst, but the gameplay needs a lot more time in the oven.

Visually, the game is stunning. If you're a lore enjoyer, you're in for a good time.

The gameplay is passable to bad in the best of times. They attempt to wow you with some cool swarming tech, but once the novelty wears off, you're left with a lot to be desired.

Gunplay is bland and simple while Melee is clunky and unpolished. Hitting enemies feels like hitting a sponge. Dodge and Parry prompts aren't responsive and sometimes simply wont do anything at all. You'll take 3/4 of your health in damage for failing a prompt. Better hope someone on your team is killing the ranged enemies or that failed prompt will end with you dying while your character tries to stand up.

When an enemy's health gets low enough, they're stunned and prompt you to run over and Execute them with a special animation. When executed, you'll restore armor (not health). This would be great if smaller enemies didn't die in one hit, preventing you from executing them for armor. Don't forget that you're getting hit for a majority of your health, so, good luck! Sometimes it feels like it's is more efficient to recover health/armor by dying and letting your AI companions resurrect you. The overall flow of battle feels terrible when you're supposed to be a walking tank.

If you want to feel like a Space Marine, play the first game again.

Early Access Review
Great factory optimization game that eases players into gameplay before turning up the difficulty. Having completed one difficulty of four in about 50 hours, there's quite a lot of game to digest. Great value, even in Early Access. Support these guys!

Excellent Turn-Based-Strategy game. Unforgiving and difficult, perma-death keeps you on your toes. The safety of your squad will make (or break) your game. Be careful, plan your upgrades, and for the love of god I just missed another 99% accuracy headshot... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥...

Grand-Strategy Game that consumes more of your hours than is healthy. "Just one more turn" easily turns into 5 hours. Not for people looking for a quick-and-dirty strategy game like Starcraft.

First Person Shooter crossed with an RTS. Marines Vs Aliens in a fight to take out the other's base. Each side is led by a commander who views the game in a Top-Down style RTS view. Their soldiers are controlled by other players in First-Person. Lots of weapons, upgrades, and equipment keep the game interesting depending on which order they are researched by the commander.

Each team plays differently, but each also has an incredibly high learning curve. This game is not for the impatient or the lone-wolf. This is a team-based game. Players that don't work together will die, teams that are divided will lose. Coordination, communication, and tactics are far more valuable weapons than any Railgun or Onos.
