This game is of little difference than the previous installation. But this one had some questionable marketing points, number of promised features that never appeared, even more that a month after release.
I just can't recommend this game. I could have said "in this current state", but I have a strong feeling "this state" isn't going to shift.
You'd be better off playing something else.

What could I say that hasn't been said? Nothing, but I still will. But first, let me tell you why I'm writing this here: It's been more than five years after the release, AND I STILL GOT SOME FREE CONTENT UPDATE! In a time where games don't even get finished this here gem is the role model.

Terraria is kinda for everybody.

I have a pal, he plays this game and builds awesome stuff with all the different blocks this game has to offer. Of course, it's less impressive than stuff you see online, but he obviously grows. And it's super simple - you decide what you want to build, you pick a color and you place it. I've seen this pal make a nice lake-side cottage the first two hours into the game.
For him, it's Architectaria.

My girlfriend just loves smashing stuff in video games. She smashes pots, zombies, antlions, small flying eyes, big flying eyes, fish, spiders. She just builds basic boxes for houses and ventures onto her smashing adventure. And she loves all the gibs that fly off from dead monsters.
For her, it's Killaria.

I, myself sometimes love to grind for loot. I can spend four, five, six hours killing that big fluffy bee go get that flying mount drop for my collection. And I also like stylizing and decorating houses for different NPCs. I just adore building an artificial flying island and placing a wrecked ship there just for one pirate NPC to live there.
For me - it's Designaria and Grindaria.

Terra means Earth, as in planet Earth. Combining all those "rarias" you'd probably get Terraria, as a world of possibilities, for everybody and anybody.
Except for those who hate platforming. And pixels.
