It's honestly fun, but depending on what you are doing,

to start off, the base game before iceborne even came out was really fun and a nice game to enjoy with friends or solo, monsters had a fair challenge if you had the right gear and it would feel amazing beating a monster that took a few trys, and all weapons were nice to try and experiment with.

but iceborne would soon come out, I wasn't around when it came out as i had stop playing, but i did finally buy when all the content had finally come out and went on sale. Its hard to say, i personally had a lot of fun but it is much more harder, it took a semi-big leap in difficulty if you just came out of the base game, but if you already had endgame gear from base you were good for the first few mission until having to make new gear. i would say the story missions are not that hard later on but can be painful due to having to regrind everything.

But the real issue would most likely be endgame. its fun, but at the sametime not, you have a lot of things to do and even a new siege whenever that pops up, but some of these monsters do not make sense for how low of a master rank you have to be to do these missions, some of them are just outright impossible without the "perfect" build that you most likely can't even get until master rank 70-100+ (unless you have people carrying you). there are many huge issue with the DLC, but that why i said, its fun, but it depends on what you are doing.

Despite the massive amount of issue i have with the DLC, i still love it a lot, it is my first monster hunter game so my take on it is very different from people who are veterans to the series. (I'm horrible at reviews too) and i love modding games a lot for some reason, so i tend to mod this game as well if you are into that thing.

Regardless, i say get this game and the DLC when they both go on sale, and try to even get some of your friends to join you as it make the experience even more fun. (playing solo is just pain sometimes lmao)

For the past few years, we have hardly been getting fully finished or un-rushed games out for us to play, only to be either disappointed (ex: Cyberpunk 2077, yet I personally loved that game) or not surprised by what happened (ex: Battlefield 2042, EA's cash cow being a fully broken game)

but this game, this game blew out so many people exceptions, this game not only lived up to the hype train but outright surpassed it. This wasn't my first soulsborne game, but this was the first soulsborne game i have fully finished, despite its pc issues, I highly recommend to pick this game up to both returning and new players of fromsoft's souls games, this game is much more beginner friendly but it doesn't hold your hand in a lot of areas like most open world games, exploring is a massive key in this game.
