In my opinion, this game was a fun and adrenaline inducing experience, however, the repetitive combat mechanics and the strange story structure could prove to be off-putting for some gamers. If you expect a historically accurate take on Rome, do not buy this game. It is meant to be a Hollywood-esque historical mashup. I would definitely recommend this game for those players who derive a sadistic enjoyment from brutally slaughtering, the almost never ending waves of barbarian scum that this game throws at you. Of course, it will be all for the good of the Empire.

Most entertaining Total War game WHEN IT COMES TO DIPLOMACY. In terms of combat and strategy, this game is not worthy of the Total War title. The battles are way too short and the unit variety within the game is, quite frankly, what I would call atrocious. CA is so close to getting TW right.
