I was 13 when Silent Hill 2 was released. I've been waiting for this for ages. There hasn't been a good Silent Hill game in 15+ years. I'm a couple of hours in and I've been amazed at everything from the new soundtrack to the graphics -the character design, and the new and expanded areas, and the gameplay. It was very familiar at first, but the horror set in as soon as I was met with new locations that fit perfectly into the world of Silent Hill. So far, this completely put all my reservations to rest. This is every bit as respectful and lovingly crafted remake as the original Team Silent deserve. Hats off to Bloober Team.

That being said, I'm running on a 4070. I've seen complaints of glitches and poor performance. I'm running in 4k with RTX and DLSS quality with some minor frame dips. This is 3 days before the official release. That's a rare level of polish these days. I haven't experienced any visual or gameplay glitches in 2 hours, however controller vibration only seems to work after disconnecting and reconnecting my controller (8bitdo ultimate). I also think that, though the graphics are stunning, the glass shattering is very poor, beaten by games from nearly 2 decades ago. That should be something that could be easily patched. Also some hit effects seem strange. For example, if you hit the newspaper covered glass in Neely's Bar it sounds like you're hitting a thick cardboard sheet instead of glass with paper over it. Just a few weird minor details.

Overall, I have extremely positive views so far, and this game will only improve with updates.

Thank you Bloober Team!

Edit: Ok, no way Bloober will ever see this but I have one small gripe. Can you either tone down or give the option to tone down James' grunts every time he pushes on a door. It is surprisingly immersion breaking.

First person Arkham Knight in Tokyo, with ghosts.

Edit: had to change it to not recommend. Performance was already bad, but they added denuvo which ruined the Steam Deck performance. Also I had 100% achievements and they added 10 more, so now I would need to invest more time if I wanted 100% again.

PSA: This is secretly an RTS game. About 2 hours in the gameplay starts to shift slowly. Just so you know. Still a good game, just don't be surprised once you start flying around playing tower defense.

I recommend this game at the $3 pricetag. This is an 11 year old game. DO NOT pay $60. The campaign is only 7-10 hours long. The graphics are on par with a mobile game. The gameplay loop is overshadowed by many other games that have come out in the last decade. The story is enjoyable but extremely straightforward and ends on a cliffhanger.

Is it worth playing? Yes. However the $60 pricetag is purely an attempt at capitalizing on the announcement of Space Marine 2. Buy the key elsewhere. When the keys dry up there are other ways to get the game for free that are equally ethical to how the publisher is treating the consumer.

I honestly hated this game the first time I played it, but as I played it really grew on me and it honestly is one of my favorite games now.

For those of you out there, like me, who thought removing the 3 device cap would make this more of a full-fledged desktop experience, nope. Be sure to test out any and all USB devices before-hand. I know that's difficult with the 3 device limit, but seriously do it. I cannot get any USB mass storage devices working and none of my audio interfaces work except my Blue Yeti mic and its headphone jack.

I just can't do it. I cannot get into Hitman Absolution. I grew up playing Hitman Blood Money, trying out all of the various scenarios, seeing all the unique ways that each mission could play out in each detailed sandbox level. To me Hitman games only incidentally had a story. I liked the mystery, the calculated killer who was more of a vessel for gameplay than a leading man, but every once in a while you see a glimpse into the type of character who could operate like Agent 47.

Absolution throws out everything I loved about the classic Hitman games and I was surprised that it wasn't punished more for this. It did away with the clean art style for an overly bloomy, oversaturated mess of lens flares and stylized post processing effects. It shoved the open ended gameplay into a narrative. This isn't uncharted. Why am I climbing buildings and being guided down corridors? Just let me play.

So, the game needed a reboot which thankfully came right after this game, Hitman after doing away with the episodic format is a vast improvement, and Hitman 2 is even better. Still, how this game flew under the radar for all its horrible decisions I do not understand.

I'm leaving this as a negative until it's closer to the original vision.
