This is absolutely a game for a lot of people, but it is *absolutely* not the game for me. If you like having countless options, pouring through sub menu after sub menu after sub menu just to find out what each of countless the bells and whistles you're given do, then you probably would like it. You probably play pathfinder, the tabletop game too, or if you don't, give it a try!

Instead I found myself drowning in items and decision paralysis only three hours in - and then having to figure out if any of these samey items would let me eek out another +1 on some checks or a slight AC bump for any of my four party members'. That wasn't particularly fun. Because it's still the pathfinder rule set, you'll also still spend half of your actions doing nothing because of a bad roll or a bad save. Early levels, as in pathfinder, you're also stuck with a pitiful number of spell slots: your characters' fun abilities are gated away and limited to a couple uses. Use your two uses of fun too early? That sucks. Then the decision paralysis ends and it turns into click, attack, end turn. Click, attack, end turn. At higher levels I'm sure it gets better, but I don't want to dump the time in to get there. I found the experience simultaneously overwhelming, then boring, and then finally frustrating as I spent three whole turns unable to hit an unimportant mook.

That being said, the game is lovingly made, the maps are beautiful, and they've added support for quite a lot of the pathfinder classes. If you really like the pathfinder ruleset as a crpg, this is 100% a great purchase for you. If you like dumb brain time like me, maybe pass on this one.

This game made me realize how good CRPGS could be. Anytime I play games based on the dnd 5e ruleset or pathfinder, I realize how clunky, boring, and annoying that ruleset is for a video game. 100% would recommend.

Boring slog of a game. Seems like the only options you have when you start is to grind up your stats to have any hope of doing anything, or to slooooowly working your way around a barren world. The world design is neat, but there's barely enough fun there to make it worth exploring.

It has super deep gameplay and mechanics, but complicated isn't the same as fun. This isn't fun. It's a game about grinding. That's all.

Bottom line: not worth buying, not even on sale. I wouldn't even recommend playing it free. I'd recommend sitting next to a window and staring, unblinking, at a bug crawling across the windowsill instead

The game doesn't work in its present state. Couldn't connect to the servers day one, and since it's an always online game that means you can't play. Couldn't even get the game to launch day two. Don't pay $40 to debug a game for fun. Wait until they fix it before you buy it.

After finally getting to play this game I still don't recommend it. It's a boring slog with slow progression and setting that adds nothing more to an uninspired and shameless ripoff of starship troopers. I've never seen a game start you off with so little as far as customization and weapon choice - you get more variety and customization in fortnite for free but here you spend $50 CAD. So instead you start off by doing the same handful of missions using the same two guns and same two abilities to kill the same handful of either bugs or robots.

Don't buy into the hype, buy something else.

Go in blind and explore. Get the expansion, but only after finishing the main content!

A must-play for anyone who's into city-builders or management simulators. DF is the cornerstone of the genre. If you haven't already played it, buy it. If you don't want to spend the money, well the free version is still available on the dev's website. This is a huge improvement on the vanilla/free version and I highly recommend it!

This game has kinda been broken at some point since the original release.
- can't start it up in fullscreen, the window is now completely inaccessible (this is in a fresh install)
- having a controller plugged in locks out use of the keyboard and mouse
- launching in windowed mode is a toss-up for whether you'll actually be able to interact with the game
- mods all require the full ensemble of DLC, so unless you're willing to fork over another $60, you can't install any of those

Get a newer, better game.

Devilishly challenging and delightfully rewarding. The fully destructible environment evokes the same feelings as classic falling-sand games from the past, all while wrapping it up in a brutal rogue-like with a rich, enigmatic, world filled with plenty of secrets to uncover. Explore and experiment; your efforts will be rewarded!

Only criticism I have is the early parts of a run can be highly effected by RNG. Bad luck with starting equipment, enemy spawns, and wand spawns can doom some runs early on.

An incredibly fun and creative "golf" game! Highly recommended, even at full price!

Played for a few hours ago back when this came out, remember it being fun!

BUT the game appears broken now. At launch just freezes at a black screen. If you have only one monitor you will need to undergo a hard reboot. **100% cannot recommend this to anybody.** I'm sure there's a workaround but it's absolutely not worth the wasted time trying to troubleshoot the issue; just buy another 4X game.

FWIW, in case you think this is system-specific (might be, but I saw a lot of other people with the same issue).
