It's got good bones. It's going to come down to the devs to follow through and flesh the rest out.

Personally, I hope the difficulty is increased and passing familiarity with the mechanics of these types of games doesn't allow you to brute force your way (numerically) through all of the challenge. The factions system was fun and gave the game a lot of RP flavor, but really didn't impact my game if I just accepted everyone and set their tax to zero. Really looking forward to when combat is implemented and makes me have to actually fear conflicts.

The safety zone is interesting but the current method of placing lookout towers is a little underwhelming. Eventually, your zone expands past the tower and it's a coin flip if you can demolish it later. If you chain multiple towers to reach a resource, it's basically guaranteed you'll never get them back after upgrading. I'm sure this will get fixed if they continue developing and add more ages that address some of these things, but definitely one of the things I liked least about the current game.

Also, the price for retrofitting an old cultural building is absurd. Like, eventually you just brute force the price, but it's not even worth it for the stats they give you. Needs to be addressed later down the line.

Gonna play some rpgs for a while and then check back in on this. I'm hopeful for this game's future

I enjoy this game and the community, but the sting from the recent idiocy displayed by Sony's executive suite still hasn't faded.

I'm going to go ahead and recommend anyone reading this to skip the game if you haven't played it yet. There's plenty to be enjoyed in the game, but I'm convinced Sony will find a way to ruin Arrowhead's hard work in the future. There are just too many good games that have launched recently to take a chance on this one.

I'm gonna keep playing until the bitter end, though.

It's got some glaring bugs and unbalanced mechanics, but I would say it's a clear upgrade from the original by far. Subtract the near decade of updates, DLC, and mods that the original received and the only real problem this game has is the unacceptable performance. I've personally had a lot of fun having the same fresh experience as when I first got the original.

If the devs give this game a few updates and bribe us with a free park or something, then I think the negative reviews will be a thing of the past.

Overall, recommend the game because it's better than the original state of the original. Definitely needed more dev time before launch or an early access period, though.

This game is a bargain for the early access price even with the current amount of content. I'm about eight hours in and still haven't completed all the challenges or unlocked all perks, so don't worry about $/hr here.

It's basically a 3D version of the Kingdom series but with way more building, weapon, and perk customization. The nodes on the ground decide what type of building can be built, but you can choose between specializations for troops, towers, and farms.

The difficulty of the game can range between very easy to scraping-by-the-skin-of-your-teeth hard. It all depends on how much of a challenge you set yourself with the modifiers, or how much you grief yourself in my case (building the wrong building, etc).

As for the future, I'm hoping for some more maps, some unique buildings to go along with them, and maybe mount options. I'm not expecting "Rockstar-level nonsense for scope" from this small of a dev team :)

TL;DR: It's a fun little game worth the small price-tag. I've bought worse AAA games tbh.
