Initial reviews are very similar to Elden Ring launch 2 years ago, roughly same starting "Mixed" 66% rating.
A bunch of cry babies take to the review board to complain about difficulty and hardware specific issues.
Meanwhile, all the positive reviews are busy playing this masterpiece.

Expansion has the marks of an all-time great. I haven't had this much fun since Elden Ring.

Super Enjoyable FPS campaign.

If you liked Doom Eternal but found problems with the marauder and platforming, this game emulates the best parts of Doom Eternal's gameplay and does away with the parts you might have found annoying.

I bought this game (pre-purchased) on blind faith in Bethesda.
It's unbelievable this is developed by the same company that gave us Skyrim.

Skyrim gave me some of the best gaming memories of exploration and discovery.

All I can remember of this game is how bored I was by the end. It's like I kept searching for the fun exploration and could never find where they put it.

Superfun game. Most games that try to introduce as many systems as this become tedious very quick. Somehow Dave manages to introduce a new mechanic constantly without it ever really feeling confusing or pointless. In fact, it's a blast to play. Highly recommend.

Big fan of Arkane games, lots of playtime in Dishonored, Prey, & Deathloop.
Bought this game on blind faith in Arkane. Never again.

Don't think I've ever really regreted a game purchase or lost interest so quickly before.

Hopefully the feedback on this product is a wake up call to Arkane and they produce quality immersive sims in the future.

Played for 5 hours and got an ending. Don't feel inclined to explore for additional endings or secrets because overall I found the game pretty boring. I really like the metrodvania genre but I just can't give this one the thumbs up.

Last night when I logged off to go to sleep, I saw the file save and realized I'd been playing Elden Ring for 25 hours. It had only been available for 36 hours at the time.

The sense of wonder and scale is incredible. It's criminal how poorly reviewed this game is on steam.

Yes, I've had frame drops and stutters. Yes, From needs to fix it.
The game is far from unplayable, and even with the technical issues It's the most attached I've felt to my screen since being a kid and opening Ocarina of Time for Christmas.

In general terms, the gameplay, world design, music composition, and art direction, are all comparable to the best efforts from Nintendo, From Soft, and Larian.

More specific to the genre, Medroid and Castlevania can retire now. Their child has grown up and graduated with honors.
This is the pinnacle of the genre and fulfills the possibility of the giants that came before. B tier metroidvanias may become impossible for you to tolerate after experiencing this.

From a child of the SNES era and avid lifetime gamer, this is easy contender for GOAT.
