A wonderful story. I love the atmosphere and the characters. Fantastic experience and beautiful aesthetic.

Early Access Review
Very early but good foundation. You will run into some bugs and there are a lot of incomplete mechanics. That being said... if you want a game that forces you to play with other people because you can't go it alone, this is it. If you want a game that presents clear and present danger with unique dangers at night during the day/night cycle, this is it. If you want an MMO that feels like Everquest, has a better UI, and a positive community without the fluff and hollow multiplayer of mainstream MMOs, this is it.

Early Access Review
First run of EA content completed:

Graphics: Style same as the first but better lighting and generally much improved textures. Runs 1440p High with Foliage Animation turned OFF on my 7800 XT at 60-70 FPS in heavily wooded/foliage areas and 90-110 in others. Averages about 85-90 per session. Nothing groundbreaking here but a lot of enhancements over GF1

Story: Love it so far - Not a lot of individual character development to talk about just yet since it's so early but overall narrative is interesting and I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Gameplay: Mixed bag here for now -- Big change from GreedFall (which I would compare more to say Witcher 3) to GF2 (which is more like Dragon Age Origins or DA2). My initial impression at the start of EA was poor but, as I progressed through the game, I grew to like it. Don't be discouraged by its poor performance to start - it gets more interesting as time goes on but the first several levels/hours of the game can be a bit boring on the combat front. That being said, it IS fun once you really get rolling with it and the big boss fight in EA was actually pretty fun and I like where they're trying to take it. There are some glitches to work out -- NPC pathing/targeting and some enemies which can get onto terrain your characters can't access and also suffer from dynamic elevation terrain creating pathing issues. -- This is early access and clearly this is a part of the game they are working to improve. It's not perfect but it's a good foundation (again, once you get a bit in).

Overall -- Give it a chance and don't let the first handful of hours fool you into thinking it stays boring. It does not. Keep in mind it's early access though and that comes with early access problems. I ran through doing many or most of the side quests in about 13-14 hours of game time just to give an idea of the one-shot length of the content. Looking forward to seeing what Spiders does with this one!

I love everything by Spiders. I've played Mars War Logs, The Technomancer, and GreedFall. Definitely getting Greedfall 2. Every game this studio puts out builds on the first one and I've loved watching their gameplay and narratives get tighter and tighter. These game may not be perfect but they're clearly made by gamers for gamers and that gives them a lot of soul. I've played through GreedFall 3 times and can't recommend it enough for action-RPG lovers.

Rig: 5800X3D | 6700 XT (@2700/2100 Core/Mem) | 32GB 3600C14 | 3.5 GB/s read SSD

Performance: 1440p Ultra Preset then change to Med Shadows and Med Mesh - FSR 2.0 Quality (Optional) - With these settings I average in the 80-90s FPS-wise. It can do native but will drop into the upper 40s sometimes if you do. The visual difference between FSR Quality and Native is negligible in this title so I've been playing with it turned on as it brings the 1% lows up into the 50s which is perfectly fine especially if you have a Freesync monitor. Gameplay FPS is 80-100 FPS, cutscenes lower. So FSR is really up to preference on if you want to put up with frame drop or not in some cutscenes.

Graphics: 69/69 "Nice"

Gameplay: 8/10 The combat is a bit awkward at first. I recommend controller (xinput) over keyboard/mouse for this title due to the combat mechanics. Once you get used to it, the combat system is actually a little refreshing. It's a little loose at times and could use from refinement but it offers something in between quicktime and button twitching. Still requires you to recognize different enemy patterns and not repeat motions (as in don't dodge the same way twice) so there is some thought to it. It's... different. The greatest thing since sliced bread? Time will tell but, as someone who plows through a lot of games, I'm very much enjoying doing something that feels truly different for a change.

Sound: 10/10 - The atmosphere and use of spatial sound is very well done. Play this in the dark with your headphones on and you'll be looking over your shoulder.

Overall Thoughts: Get it! The stutter problem is nonexistent for me (other than the very first time I launched it and it clearly compiled the shaders up front) and seems better for everyone since the day 1 patch. Looks great, runs great, and I'm already intrigued by the story and just want to know more. Great game so far and I look forward to continuing through it.

Great game in the series so far. My favorite entry since Till the End of Time lol. People complaining about performance have to be running potato PCs. Running this on my 5800X3D and RX 6700XT and have solid frametimes (game locks at 60 FPS) with no stutter. Precompiling shaders can take some time so plan on 30-60 minutes after downloading and running first time before you can play. Other than that, enjoying it thoroughly so far! :)

Hands down the best Marvel game I've played. Right up there with Guardians of the Galaxy but waaaaay better with its open world concept instead of an on-the-rails linear story.

Combat is really stiff. This is definitely a formulaic game with very little regard to quality of life or innovative gameplay. I really can't get over how stiff the combat feels. Not fluid AT ALL. Feels like I'm playing some B-Title from the early 2000s.

I absolutely loved this game. From now on, when I think of the phrase "video games as art," this game will come to mind. Hi-Bit brilliantly captures the essence of each genre of game you encounter. The atmosphere and narrative cash in on nostalgia like many others but what sets it apart is that 198X does it in all the right ways. What a wonderful experience. I can not express enough my thanks for the opportunity to play it. Fantastic game.
