Despite its still many possibilities to still improve in various areas (balance, UI, polishing, PERFORMANCE, AI) this game can't just not get a recommendation from me.
It perfectly captures the atmosphere of exploring and conquering star systems and galaxies, supported by a phenomenal soundtrack with countless events often referencing pop culture, conspiration theories and other insider jokes, showing the love to detail from the developers. You can play this game in so many different ways (perfect if you want to RP a little bit) so replayability is extremely high. If you like space and strategy there is no way around this game. Oh, and it is one of those games you just can't stop playing even though it is 3 AM and you have to get up in 5 hours because there is ALWAYS something you still have to do next.

gameplay/challenge: 3/5 - pretty simple actually, only the boss fights take some effort and you can also set them to easy or hard mode just to your likings
story: 5/5 - all 3 different endings are top notch #thefeels WARNING SPOILER: especially as someone who likes it when there are no happy endings
music: 5/5 - beautiful atmospheric soundtrack, really really good

it is a free game and you can play through all 3 endings in under 4 hours, so if you want a feels trip give it a try
definitely recommended

Might be hard to get into, but rewards you with an insanely fun and addicting endgame once you understand the basics.

Also GGG is a way better company than Blizzard regarding game content updates.
