I bought this game because 3 weeks ago I watched internet historians video, It is a great game but I think it falls short on a lot of potential but considering it has been 6 years since launch, I highly doubt it will fundamentally change. The planets, random encounters, and everything is just a reshuffling of a short deck.
I would say this game is like starbound in 3D yet despite starbound lacking an entire dimension, it still has far more depth
