I was having a great time running maxed out on a 3080 and i9-9900k until I left the sewers. Went from a solid 60 if using upscaling to not being able to get past 28-30 frames on even the lowest settings. Will wait for it to be fixed or refund, genuinely better than the oriignal so far and a good remake but there's no point playing if I can't run it on hardware beyond the recommended specs even if using framegen etc.

Game runs between 60 - 80 at 1440p on a i9-9900k and 3080 at 1440p with Raytracing on and DLSS Balanced, drops to 45 in cities which I don't care about.
'P2W' Items people are claiming are character edit tokens and completely useless items that do nothing (Literally I have several of these within 3.2 hours of playing the game, only an idiot would spend money on them. To clarify, not the character edit tokens. Although you can edit elements of your character in game at barbers. Further edit, you can actually just pay 500RC which you can earn within 10 mins.)
It's Capcom, they'll remove Denuvo after two to three months.

It's a real shame the game starts you off in a few NPC rich enviroments, otherwise the majority of people complaining about framerates would realise that those lower framerates only ever happen when you're in usually non active combat areas such as cities or very busy towns.

Already ran off on about 12 different side quests when it comes to the starting area alone and got lost in caves with slimes and the like dissolving and killing my party until I worked out their weaknesses, standard Dragons Dogma but with some extra on top, lots of sandbox style gameplay.

If you want some Extra FOV, you can change your camera distance, just like in the first game.

Will update review once I'm done with the game and starting a new game +

Review Bombers are silly, nobody did this for DMC 5, Monster Hunter World, Iceborne or Rise, yet not it's a big deal and people love to spread misinformation like twitter users :)

105 Hour Play through, Act 2 and 3 were buggier than 1 but I expect it to be patched up pretty quickly considering Larians track record. Really enjoyed, onto second play through

Early Access Review
Has a lot of potential,
Reminds me a ton of Oblivion with darker fantasy elements.
Combat right now is a lil too jank/missing sound depth/feel to recommend further than 'trying out' will be holding onto and waiting for a few patches to see how it improves!

Just finished the game, 8.5 - 9 (unsure on which)
Amazing story reveal at the end and presentation and gameplay is insane in VR.
But oddly as someone who's played a ton of other virtual reality games over the past 4 years.
I found Alyx to be lacking in foe and situation variety in comparison to other half life games.

Sure, I can open up a car and hide behind the door, but when there's only three weapons and grenades against four combine types served 2-5 at a time at most then it's a little disappointing.

The highlight for me were the last couple of chapters, were the game finally went 'Right, you've learned how to play, here's everything at once.' I was saddened to find it ended there.

In comparison to the experience I had with boneworks, which has incredibly rewarding gameplay and more in depth physics interactions even without weapon upgrades.

For a game that felt like it could lift up the potential of what VR is, I felt constrained by the weapons systems available and even more so by the lack of melee functionality with environmental weapons.

Recommended for the story and interesting gameplay choices.
A shame it doesn't push them further and defy expectations like the other half-life games did.

Finished Game in 8 hours (Just the Story mode, with a little extra exploring)
Combat is a lot of fun and puzzles can be solved in practically any way that utilises physics, I'm pretty sure I solved some in unintended ways (But that's part of the fun)

The story is a little nonsensical and just serves to give opportunities to mess around in the game in a host of creative enviroments.

Whilst the physics are absolutely fantastic, there were several times in which my hands would catch into a fence or forcibly disconnect while climbing (End section, I'm looking at you.) Otherwise, the physics allow for an incredible amount of approaches to any situation.
Taking fire from a turret? You could roll several barrels across the ground and duck behind them for cover, alternatively you could cover yourself with a trashcan and walk right up to it and knock it to the ground in a 'Metal-Bin-Gear' style.

Really nice glimpse into the future of what VR could look like in gaming, more a feature length tech-demo then a game, but an absolutely fantastic one at that.

Worth the retail price.

OVR Toolkit is fantastic, use it every time I'm in vr.
