I’ve been playing Call of Duty for over a decade now. Always buying and playing the new releases. I complain all I want about each game, but I’ll still play them. I remember shooting the watermelons in COD 4, but now every time I play this game, I just want to shoot my own watermelon. It really is like the five stages of grief, if you think about it. After the honey moon phase of every call of duty, you got denial that the game might not be as hyped as you thought it was going to be. After some weeks, you start to see the flaws that become obvious over a period of time. Then, after you get killed again and again with some weapon that shouldn’t be able to do that, you start to get angry. You transition from denial to anger. Why do the developers not listen to the players about the weapons? Why do we have a stupid battle pass? Why do they only care about Warzone? Why do they not care that much about multiplayer and zombies? Then, after a while of becoming angry, you simmer down into bargaining. Pleading to anyone to fix the game you spent over 70 dollars on. Please fix the camo tracking so you can get the cool mastery camo you have been grinding for since launch. Please, someone listen, but they don’t. Why should they? They already have your money. Maybe you should buy a bundle that isn't worth 20 dollars. But you say, “I can be some cool character and shoot funny rainbow bullets." I just want my camos to track. I just want to be able to play the game I spent 70 dollars on and not crash every time. I know it's not my computer. No other game is so poorly optimized. 200 gbs? Really? Losing hours of real-time work in zombies for a stupid camo. Here is the problem: No other game has the satisfying camo grind that cod has. Every new FPS game is credited as the Cod Killer. They don’t have the unlocks down. Cod knows how to get the people addicted. Unlock noises, camo progression, stats, etc. Let's get back to the main topic. After trying to bargain with anyone who listens, you get into depression. You get sad every time you die. You get more and more depressed when sbmm places you in a new dimension of sweats. You went from getting 1.20kd one game to  .80 the next 5. You just get sad. But look at the bright side of that cool mastery camo. The thing that makes you come back for more every time. Then, at the end of that depression, you just accept that this game isn’t that good. You get that mastery camo you uninstall the game. You are finally done. You finally get to move on to other games, that you looked forward too. I’ve gotten Orion, Interstellar, Borealis, DM Ultra, and Dark Aether. I’ve gotten every mastery camo since the original dark matter in Black Ops 3. Cod has fallen off. It’s okay that games fall off. Eventually, the style gets so saturated that it's basically tap water at this point. Are a few new features worth the 70-dollar price tag? Who knows. I will still buy them and play them. It's like my own hell. My own Sisyphus moment. Instead of a man pushing a rock over and over up a hill, It’s just me playing a new cod game every year from October to January and then not picking up the game till the end of its life cycle. But hey, maybe the next game is different. Or maybe I'm just delusional.
