This game has been around for 13 years, but I still have fond memories of it. I fired it back up recently to complete some unfinished achievements and it's still great by 2021 standards.

Very enjoyable and challenging, but fairly short. I finished EVERYTHING in a week, and that includes going back through each map on each planet at least twice to find all the collectibles and get 100% exploration.

That said, it was a fun week! I haven't paid full price ($59) for a new game in a long time - but vs a ~$17 ticket to a 2-hour movie...40 hours for interactive fun is a pretty good deal.

Fun game, but at times it is a grind. For example, with each camp level upgrade (and subsequent player level upgrade), each building must be upgraded individually in order to unlock different things you can craft. Totally makes sense, except that at each level, the resources required to upgrade each building are all the same. And there's usually one or two resources that are harder to find. So you are forced to replay whichever side mission is best to get that resource multiple times over. For example, there are ~five levels in a row where each building requires 2 or 3 sheet metal, so you keep grinding out the same one or two quests that reward you with sheet metal. Then level 25-30 or so all require sheet of steel, because that's TOTALLY DIFFERENT than sheet metal. But it's just interesting and addicting enough that you grind it out a bit at a time. Just a bit repetitive.

Didn't run on my old PC from years ago, but looks like buffer effects is now disabled and can't be enabled at all. Was able to play a few minutes without issue, and nostalgia of playing it decades ago came back.

The graphics are limited to 4:3 aspect ratio still (no "enhanced edition", at least not yet), and the limited geometry shows the game's age, but surprisingly smooth visuals (not awfully pixelated) for its age.
