I originally gave this game a "do not recommend" review, but I’ve since changed my mind and now recommend it.

I absolutely love this game; it’s fantastic and has loads of potential. I’ve never really got into other fantasy extraction games, even though the extraction genre is my favourite (I’ve got over 6k hours on Tarkov).

I won’t go into all the different modes, but there’s something for everyone—except maybe if you’re looking for pure PvE. Who knows if that will be added, but it’s something to bear in mind.

There are a lot of complaints about balance, but it’s an Early Access game, and the developers are very active in addressing these issues. A few days ago, I was among those complaining about the Cryomancer, as they could wipe out lobbies with ease. They’ve since made some adjustments, and now we’re dealing with life-on-hit Death Knights and Fighters (the Death Knights are particularly frightening!). Plus, there are players running around like Legolas, playing crossbow Rogues and hitting you from stealth, dealing half your HP in damage before you can react. Despite these issues, based on the developers' track record, I’m confident they’ll patch and address these concerns. There are ways to deal with these challenges, or at least avoid them, but it’s early access, and things are still being tweaked.

My original negative review was due to a patch on 31/07, which caused stuttering in the menu, game, and even made my whole PC lag. At first, I was annoyed because it wasn’t acknowledged, but as I wrote my review, the developers addressed it. They’ve since released several patches to fix the issue. The developers and community managers have been very active, reaching out to me and others to gather logs to fix the problem. The patches have worked for some people, but not for me. However, I found a fix that has worked for me and many other users (though it doesn’t work for everyone): press the Windows key, type “power,” click “edit power plan,” then “change advanced power settings,” expand “USB settings,” and disable “USB selective suspend setting.” Restart your machine and try running the game again. To undo this, just follow the same steps and enable the setting.

Overall, I’m very happy with the game. I think it has a lot of potential, and the developers are extremely active in making changes and listening to the community.

Just over 400 hours in and I can't get past the first boss, Soldier of Godrick. I might be able to get to the DLC one day.

TLDR: Mortal Online 2 is my favourite game right now, I've had to game under two weeks, I have over 100 hours and I've bought the game 3 times on different steam accounts (you don't need to do, 1 is fine and in most ways better.)

I was put off by the mixed reviews for so long, however, I watched one of the MO2 streams and Henrik (CEO) was talking about the up and coming changes, it sounded really good what they were going for, they ran a key give away, I mentioned in chat i was going to buy the game if I didn't win, Henrik suggested I waited a day as the steam summer sale started tomorrow. That alone got my respect.

Yes, it's a hardcore MMO PvP style game but the community I've experienced have been one of the best I've ever seen. I've received so much help in game from people and also people on the discord. I would potentially suggest looking at recent build guides (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1_JPUs_JnA) this is the one I found and followed and I've personally gone the Veela dex footie and also the necro build here.

You start off on an Island called Haven, here you can't get killed by players and there are monsters to kill and professions to learn. When you level up your character you earn your clade level and you can leave the island and join the main world at level 2. A lot of different people have differing views but at around clade level 15 most characters are ultimately finished and this is where I stayed on my character to. There are pros and cons to leaving at a lower level or staying until a higher level but when you go in to the real world, to start levelling will be a low slower.

With the above in mind it wasn't too long since I left Haven, while I got clade 12 on my first character and was very adept at fighting the AI going in to the real world was wild. It's a long video but here is my first 6 hours in the real world in a 40 min video (https://youtu.be/i3DB7QGmTyA)

My 2nd character I got to 15 and then went to the main land. A friend got me teamed up with a guild and we went on a role playing random PK adventure, it was a load of fun, we killed a few who didn't pay the goblin tax and got in a group fight and lost (video of this can be found here https://youtu.be/YnpCpYP3IRg.) The PvP was insane and so much fun and like nothing I've ever experienced before. After the group fight my friend took me to one side and started teaching me just how in dept the PvP is, I had a number of people dual me and I loved every second.

All in all I've had a great time, I've died/been pked a few times but it has been great.

While it's not needed I would say a microphone makes the game experience a lot better, being able to talk to people has stopped me getting PK'ed a fair few times, or even talking to someone in the Forrest when I was lost got me a horse from them.

I will give an updated review when I have 100 more hours in the real world, my main experience has been in Haven, I would say around 80% of my time. I will add that I am used to more hardcore games, I played Ultimate Online back in '97, I've played Tarkov for nearly 5k hours so losing gear doesn't really bother me too much.

I will say that in some of the reviews there have been mentions of cheated, in my chat last night there were a number of people with 2k + hours who have never seen a cheat and just this morning there was an update on their discord saying the below, so it's something they are working on.

Built house. built campfire to cook food. started forest fire. started house fire. 10/10 would burn it all down again.

This game gave me RSI and I now have to pretty much wear a wrist support permanently but I still keep coming back for more.
