Honestly I really like this charming game. The lights, atmosphere, and other ideas make this a very vivid experience. While I do agree the lag can get bad, this is an early access game and optimization isn't something I expect to be completely done at this point. If you don't have a computer good enough to play higher end games, you might struggle near the end game.

That being said you don't need to build a mega factory, you can just build enough machines to make the things you need and wait it out while you explore, though this might take a bit of just leaving your computer on for a while. While that's not the best option, it can be done that way.

All in all this game is enjoyable enough to scratch that factory itch and be pretty enough to keep me enjoying the progress of the factory.

It's a good game though you can get lost, and not quite know what to do next sometimes. Does what it says on the tin.

Unrelated to this game: There is never really a good time to say this, but I am sorry for anyone I've hurt in the past. Sometimes I say or do stupid things and I don't mean to hurt anyone with anything I say or do, so if I have hurt you in the past, I am sorry. Good luck out there to anyone and everyone.

This game is amazing for early access, at almost no point in time have I felt like the game is in an unplayable state. Honestly I can see this game being an amazing mod-scape one day to rival Minecraft.

The building is in blocks and connects to other structures in a mostly intuitive way. There could be a few tweeks here and there made to the building but overall you can already create the town of your medieval dreams. One of my favorite pastimes in this game is fixing up the abandoned houses and structures along the way.

My only gripe is I don't have more friends to play with.

I have had no problems running this game so far. That doesn't mean other people don't have issue I just haven't experienced them. That being said it seems the high score system also still works as I can see a friend through steam's high score. That being said I have no idea if multiplayer still even works. All in all though you can trust the other reviews on the quality of the game. It's quite fun, albeit a bit cheesy.

I hate that I love this game as much as I do because it's a buggy ♥♥♥♥ mess right now on my PC. I have a save file that is corrupt and sill crash the game every time I try and load, (Never equip the Aristocrat's Garb (Altered)). On top of that the "lag" in this game is the strangest thing I've ever seen. It's like if a video is buffering and suddenly catches up to where it was by playing the video back really fast. Sometimes it works and you don't notice it too much, but other times with certain attacks from bosses or particle effects it's really noticeable.

Another thing that really rather annoys me is the boss design aspect of it. Before there was always a reason as to why a boss was there a story behind it and the environment showed it. For the big bosses this is definitely the case, but for the smaller bosses in caves it makes no sense. You'll be fighting knights, who are overseeing what looks like slaves, expect they both hate you, okay that's fine, then you run across a "land octopus" and some soldiers staying away from it. So I thought: "Hey they might attack each other like some enemies in the open world do." Nope they all hate you and only you. So you travel deeper into this cave, to find the boss of the area. A salamander with an ax hand that breaths magma in a tiny room. None of this made any sense, and to make it worse the massive boss is put in a tiny room where half the field is constantly lava, to make it worse the bosses seem to know what ability killed you last time and spam the ♥♥♥♥ out of it. I had him pin me against a wall doing the same attack 7 times in a row, until I finally died.

I love the game, but the smaller side stuff seems to not quite have the same polish as the rest of the game, which is fine for how massive the game is but frustrating when you have to deal with a dumb mechanic, like how terrain effects you heavily but doesn't bother the enemies at all (including falling off of cliffs, where some bosses physically can't fall off), or how hitting a wall with your sword staggers you but has no impact on the enemy, as they attack you through walls.

All-in-all this is a great game with minor issues that I really hope get fixed in time as it is sometimes painful to play this game.

Dying light 2 is a very good follow up to the first game, the mechanics are refined and more fun compared to the first game and combat all together feels nicer which was the biggest problem for me from the first game. Unfortunately the controls where very clearly made for a controller, which RUINS the parkour experience which is almost the whole focus of the game. The PC controls feel like an afterthought and here are a few reasons why:

  • Super heavy aim assist to the point where you will literally not shoot the thing you are aiming at.
  • Double use of one button as the kick button and the use object as a springboard (where if you use the kick while running you stop completely and stand there to kick)
  • If you use anything other than w while you are sneaking you slow down massively for no reason.
  • All the items are in a button style layout, and cannot be linked to anything besides using the same button for cycling through items.
  • The wall running and parkour feels super punishing on the keyboard as you only have 8 directions as inputs (up, down, left, right, and diagonals).
  • There is an ability that you can unlock that allows you to dodge an attack and deflect an enemy off to a side and into obstacles or off roofs. if you want to do this you will have to line it up perfectly at 90 degrees, meaning you not only have to position yourself but also your enemy to line up perfectly. You will have to find a different finger for "f" because you will sometimes have to press "d" and "f" at the same time.

It's so frustrating seeing so many compromises made for the controller and NONE made for PC players, you can't even reassign all of the keys. Active landing shares the same key as crouch, "c" which stops me from pressing "d" and "c" at the same time, so I wanted to change that. NOPE You can't change that key, even if you change crouch active landing will always be "c". I'm pretty sure this is a glitch and will be patched out eventually but it's so rough seeing this game like this, PC players are an afterthought, and this feels like a super bad PC port. The game itself is fun but it feels like in order to even enjoy the game I have to play it on a controller (something I don't even have).

Spoiler free review:

This game has one of the most story rich environments I've seen in a game, every inch of the solar system seems to be hand crafted. Each planet has it's own unique personality, and story. If you are willing to look deeper you can even find hidden subtext, which I feel that level of depth is missing from most games now-a-days. I absolutely love this game, but there is only one gripe I have with it. The first is isn't not voice acted. While I understand why they didn't go for full voice acting, I feel like it could have been enhanced by at least some voice acting at key parts.

This is a great game.

I've been looking for a successor to Mount and Blade: Warband for quite some time and I think this comes really close. It's a bit slower than M&B and it's a bit more micro-managy but I think that can be a good thing depending on your play style. Yeah it's quite glitchy, and sometimes kind of dumb. But honestly my overall experience is quite a bit better than what I expected from this game.

Let's start off by saying that: I now have a save I can't do anything with, and yes I still recommend this game. At the time of writing this review I have spent 26 hours in the game, and all 26 hours where on that one save. Yes it sucks that I lost all that time and can't continue, and I do wish that I could continue it. But the 26 hours I've spent in the game already makes up for that. I had a blast playing through this game, all the near heart attacks, all the discoveries, and all the fun times make it all worth it. It's an alpha game, and it will have alpha game problems, but that doesn't mean it's not already an amazing game. In my personal opinion it is well worth the money even though it is still in alpha.

I finally beat it. 370 Hours is how long it took me to beat it without spending any money. This doesn't include the amount of time I've waited and since I can't really see when I got this game first, but my first achievement is from May of last year. So BE WARNED! It will take this long to actually beat the game. I'm recommending this game so hopefully I won't be the only person who waisted their life on this game.
