The short: if you like strategy games, this one does some things well, but I found it a bit lacking in areas I enjoy. Recommended with reservations. Worth catching on Steam sale for $5

The long: Though I've only put around 40 hours into the game thus far, it's demonstrated a number of pros and cons. In many respects, the UI is a bit cumbersome, as is the case with many "space strategy" games though it does have a few nuanced touches that are easy to overlook at first (such as the spread of culture being shown as a colored line slowly creeping between jump-points).

There are a number of research trees to advance your civilization, allowing for some degree of play-style accomidations... but the game has an obvious slant towards military combat as the primary win condition.

The game, though sporting 3d graphics is, dissapointingly NOT in a 3d world. All the planets and points of interest exist on a plane. Ships move (more or less) in a planar fashion.

Considering how older games like Homeworld did combat in a 3d space so well, it was dissappointing to see a title like this opt out of allowing players that degree of control. It's all the more dissapointing that the combat system is fairly shallow since it's what the game is clearly geared towards. You can set your units to automatically attack anything around the gravity well (or planet or object units can hang out by), locally (not sure HOW local that is), or to be passive. You can manually or automatically use special abilities (manual isn't very practical though) of your units. You can specify single targets as well, if you really want. Otherwise, your units will just attack threats with what looks like a preset unit and proximity priority. The combat AI isn't terrible, but it's definately not great either.

I get the impression the developers were doing more of a rock, paper, scissor approach (find the best combo of units / upgrades to beat the opponent's units / upgrades) to combat while trying to keep a fairly strong emphasis on resource management. I also liked how there's an NPC "pirate" faction that will attack a player if other players place the highest "bounty" on them through bidding resouces.

There's pretty much NO story or interesting stuff about the cultures you play / interact with other than unit variance / some special abilities or structures that are unique to each faction. The is no story mode.

The game's pacing is also fairly slow (which can be either a pro or con, depending on what you're looking for), though it can be accelerated a bit in single player mode.

6.5 out of 10. Recommended with some reservations. If you like slower games that are more about resource and upgrade management and less about complicated combat manuevering, you may really like this game.

After playing this realistic interpretation of the rigors of a goat's life, you'll be amazed at how graceful, funny, and bendy our four legged friends are. Some may argue the game is a bit buggy, but I would argue they are in fact misunderstanding "features" of the game.

A must buy if you can get it for much under $10 bucks. Great for casual gamers and non-gamers alike (my girlfriend laughed her ass off gleefully... and she usually has trouble walking in most games).

Make sure your keyboard has an any key.

It feels like an expansion of Saints Row the III. It's pretty darn easy, a bit grindy if you want to get super badass (though easy grindy), and pretty funny... if you're a hardcore gamer, you may be a bit dissapointed since it was clearly designed for casual gamers. Like Goat Simulator, it has a fairly sandbox feel. Unlike Goat Simulator, it's considerably less glitchy. Worth grabbing for $5-$10 bucks. I'd not suggest spending more than $20 for this title unless you really want to play a game with limited replayability.

Rather fun to play with friends... but any atctivity with friends can be fun. The art style and humor are pretty cool, but it doesn't mask the rather dull and repetative problem most AAA titles have; boring core game mechanics. Shot. Kill. Get loot. Repeat. It's Quake with more polish and a narrative... Getting rather tired of the same game being rehashed over and over.

That being said, if you like the genre, it's one of the better examples and has great CO-OP support.
