I've been playing Battle Grounds since it was a mod for Half Life 1. I respect that there's still new updates and content still coming out even in 2020. The community is quite small which is to be expected since Battle Grounds III, which is essentially an improved Battle Grounds II, has been around for over a decade. However, there always seems to be at least a good 30+ people playing at any given time. There are still active clans too.

The gameplay isn't revolutionary (heh...) but it's a fun way to kill a little time. I've fallen out of gaming this past decade so it's nice to have a casual game to hop into every now and then. This game won't really wow anybody but it's worth a download, especially since it's free.

For everyone who is wondering, this game had server side issues when it started. Yes, that is what most of the negative reviews are about. The game it's self is pretty damn good. Great customzation, great maps. there are still some things missing yes, a few glitches like occasionally spawning in walls when spawing on squad leader. But otherwise a very solid PRERELEASE (don't forget that). The Devs have been on top of isses so give them credit. This game is worth it.

Undoubtedly one of the best RTS/TBS games of all times. It's remarkable how much fun it is to play even ~10 years after its release. I still come back to this game time and time again.
