Well. Being a very large fan of the original Mount and Blade (Warband), I was very excited to hear about Bannerlord 8 years ago. 8 years... So what have I got after those so many years. The same game, I kid you not, it looks better and has better aspects in places but at the end of it, it feels like a reskin.

Disappointing for sure so I will list off the biggest negatives first -

FrameRate - While this is a complete re texture (for the better) of the original game I find it can be a little over the top. Here is what I mean. I have a laptop with reasonably above the minimum specs required, so why is all my graphics on the lowest they can be and I still have a terrible framerate. Its really inconsistent, will lag at strange points and not at others. Understanding some game development myself, I know this is an engine problem. Maybe next time build a new engine and don't strip the last one for parts as badly.

Completely reusing terrible aspects of the last game (Good reused aspects not included) -

- Repetitive missions. God I hate farmers.
- Arena. Actually a lot better but still a way to go.
- Bandit camps. Also far better but overall a terrible and repetitive chore.
- Loading. You surely could have optimised this better, I mean I don't know your code but pre-loading
battles when you click on a target, etc.
- Troop upgrading. This one is interesting, I liked the style in the first one. It just doesn't fit into this game
and could have become a far better and more interactive system. I have not reached playing as a Lord
yet so I may change this piece for good or worse. (Please don't tell me I have to manually recruit troops
for all my castles again.)

Now why is my review positive -

1. Its in early access, you didn't hide it. There is a lot of work to go however, Warband to the original shows you can buff the content and enjoyment up considerably over time. Seriously don't make me wait 8 more years though.

2. This looks good, It feels good. I saw a lot of reviews stating the combat was clunky, I never found that. It is far more immersive and feels like you can have a duel now. Collision boxes can sometimes be a bit whack and blocking with anything other than a shield will get you killed endlessly but, maybe I will have to improve with time and become a better champion by earning it. Nice work.

3. Battles... I saw just as many complaints about battles, they do feel a little more basic and harder to control. Oh that's because its more realistic and has about 5x the numbers of previous troops on a field. They are a lot more fun, you are no longer a god riding a horse round killing everything in your path but a hero to your troops fighting the engagement and retreating when needed. Once again your legendary status on a battlefield has to be earned with time and cold hard cash. Decent job.

4. Do you smell that. That is a sequel to what people know and loved. I think I saw one youtuber complaining about the combat saying he couldn't lance and slice people as he rode. He had not played M&B before. This allows you to pick up from the old game and transfer some of the skills into a vibrant new world. Taverns and towns feel alive (cities a bit weak), you have a name or a game to be made, welcome to the world where no one holds your hand and you must earn your life. This feels like the old game and well I am underwhelmed with it for 8 years of progress, it has produced a decent game.

I look forward to sinking many of my braindead hours stuck inside, into this. Paradox has a long way to go, so do I with improving and adjusting to a new game. Keep up the energy and get us more good content. Adios.

Serously keen for this game to be great, Looks really good and prehaps could be, sadly as many other people said it is still in alpha. Updates have been far fewer and less added I sadly feel the game might not survive to come out of beta, idk if its funding or lack of devalopers either way both are achiveable if the devs can put thier mind to it. e.g. cruching a few weeks into just bug fixing to move the game to beta would boost numbers and sale a bit as well as bringing some hype to the game and hiring more devs their are plenty out there that would be keen for a learning experiece even for free (cough me cough). Any way good luck looking forward to hopefully posting a postive review for this in the future.
