Basically Geneforge 1 is a seemingly run-of-the-mill fantasy RPG where, admittedly, the art and music isn't even all that great. But you'll be hooked after 30 minutes of exploring Sucia Island, which has been barred from Shaper travel for two centuries. There are the typical ruins and monsters, treasures and trash you get with every game like this, but the game's storytelling will suprise you and keep you playing. Combat and map-extensiveness will keep you on your toes and provide a lengthy experience. This is a great game and I highly recommend it if you're looking for something easy to get into and fun to play.

It's simplistic and rather long to sit down and play through, but, like Windows Solitare, it's a good platate cleanser to zone out on between games.

PROS: Good zone-out game, decent graphics, combines skill and chance evenly. Improvements in Faerieland are actually useful and balanced, so it's not set in stone that having everything bought will mean all "perfect"s.

CONS: The pets you collect don't really do anything other than evolve and act as a sort of achievement. Also, there is no way to make it more difficult in story mode. You won't be getting all perfects but there's no challenge either unless you enter a separate challenge mode. It's fun for 30 minutes, but after that it loses it's novelty.

This game is pretty rad. You play as a naked baby who has been abused by his mom and then magic...
