Extremely well developed and deep game. Hopoo has taken what they made with Risk of Rain 1 to a whole new level with this 3D sequel. Risk of Rain is a sterling example of "easy to learn, hard to master" gameplay, and anyone who is a fan of roguelites should do themselves the favor of checking out this game.

The game follows a sequence of five levels, the first four being randomly selected from two different options. The levels themselves are not procedurally or randomly generated, but are pre-made, hand crafted maps, with minor variances (such as the presence or absence of bridges) built into them. The only variables are the locations of chests that contain your items, various shrines, and the teleporters that act as gates into the next stage. Once you beat five levels, you can continue on to the final level and face a final boss, or loop the game however many times you like, or until your game crashes.

As you progress, you'll collect numerous items that have different effects, from basic things such as increase attack speed or crit chance, to more esoteric things like killing enemies cause a healing plant to grow from their corpse or being able to perform a ground stomp attack. Items stack with each other, so the longer you run, the crazier synergies you can build as you go.,

The game has numerous persistent unlocks. New survivors can add new dimensions to the game. On top of that, you can unlock alternate abilities for every survivor, sometimes completely changing how they play. Items are also unlockable, like many roguelites, which should come as no surprise.

This game has a lot to offer, give it a shot, and see if it's for you.
