alan turing, the hero and father of modern computing, just under a decade after winning the second world war for Britain, was arrested for soliciting a male prostitute. he was arrested, and given the choice of life imprisonment or chemical castration. he chose chemical castration, effectively turning him into a frail old man in his mid 30s. he killed himself in his 40s, by injecting an apple with cyanide and taking a bite out of it. that is why the Apple logo has a bite out of it. in honour of the father of computing who died eating one.
