Campaign: If you're a first time Halo fan or love replaying the campaigns, this is more than enough to get the job done. Some features and visuals aren't 100% one-to-one with the original games, but there are mods that attempt to restore the games as they were, and the games themselves are so good that I'm just barely willing to overlook those oversights.

Mods: Steam Workshop support is cool, but RIP Digsite. The Digsite drama isn't going to directly pertain to this review, but it heavily sours my mood whenever I hear about it. TL;DR, 343 sucks to work with (shocker), and the Digsite team deserves the world and then some.

Multiplayer: Absolutely not. 343 (I'm not calling them "Halo Studios") absolutely tainted the amazing experience that was OG Halo multiplayer by enforcing SBMM in social games and ingraining the idea of "competitive Halo" into the minds of thousands of players. I don't know about you, but when I come home from work, the last thing I want out of a "social" experience are several matches in a row with the same team stack that rip you a new one every time. I'd like to think I'm above-average in skill given my years of experience and play time, but these smurf kids genuinely make me think otherwise, and by the time I've lost the ninth game in a row I just don't want to play anymore.

Thank goodness that the server browser exists... Until you realize it's all the same because of the dwindling population, meaning that everyone plays the same stuff over and over again. Listen, as an old-school H3 and Reach vet, I really love all of the wacky customs that people create, and I'm always down to play some whenever I'm in the mood, but I genuinely do not see what's so fun about playing exclusively Desert Bus and Castle Wars 24/7. This isn't necessarily the game's or the community's fault, but the low population really leaves a lot to be desired for the casual player.

There are tons and tons of nitpicks I could give the collection, but they all pale in comparison to complaints about the actual game. Overall, I would recommend the game because it's dirt cheap for six great games in one. I love Halo and would be glad to get as many people as I can to experience the magic that I did as a child, but 343 really, and I mean REALLY messed up big time when it came to certain decisions regarding the Collection.

If you're one for the campaigns, then this is certainly a solid pick-up. But for multiplayer, unless you have a few buddies you want to hang out with, stick with the original games via Sunrise, or pick up Custom Edition, Project Cartographer, or ElDewrito.

To put it succinctly, ElDewrito in 2018 walked so MCC PC could trip and stumble right before reaching the finish line. It's just one menu overhaul, some tweaks and some bug fixes away from being a genuine contender for the best game collection of all time.
