Mozzarella was one of my favorite foods, and now I’m learning that the actual mozzarella is the balls? Why the ♥♥♥♥ do they have “mozzarella cheese” in bags and stuff and then “mozzarella” in the soupy stuff? I’m so confused.

TLDR I thought mozzarella was the water that came with it and not the white balls. I used to “drink” mozzarella and got called out at work for it.

Well this is going to sound embarrassing. I loved mozzarella (or so I thought) my whole life. I always drank it when I got it from the store. I used to spice it up sometimes and stuff too. I always threw away the white balls that came in it. This all spawned from when I was around eleven. I was at school one day and I asked what mozzarella was. My friend told me that mozzarella was some soupy stuff. I asked my parents and they got some mozzarella cheese from the store. I always thought there was a difference in mozzarella cheese and “mozzarella”. Today it was my first day at work and I took out my little thermos filled with mozzarella. I drank it then threw out the balls. My coworker watched me do this and came up to me with some of my buddies and said “what the hell did you just drink.” I said “oh just some mozzarella.” He went “what! What’s wrong with you dude? You just drank something.” I said “oh, not mozzarella CHEESE plain MOZZARELLA.”
