Imperator: Rome has the best fundamental mechanics for any grand strategy I've played so far. The system that revolves around population is both believable, easy to grasp as well as engaging and fun. With older patches removing the "mana" system this framework now is in great shape. I suggest using the mod Imperator Invictus add more flavour to the world.

One gripe I have about this game is that diplomacy is lacking. Nations that you ally with immediately attack for you, without corncerning themselves for their own cause. There is no favour system that makes the forging of strategic alliances believable.

neat little Warcraft 3 clone, wish the best of luck to the developer. Don't feel this game takes the necessary steps for a modern RTS, but it's great if you are looking for nostalgia.

still has no official network support and the unofficial fan support needs legacy setups like port forwarding and specific network configurations that also might not work. This is far from a remaster package

still pay to win, I don't suggest you start playing this game until they removed the pay to win aspects, rather than invent new ones

This is a good game with a basic concept similar to Banished. I would even say this is 'Banished light', since it is a lot easier and has less concepts to play around. Therefore I wouldn't recommend buying it because after 5 hours you have already seen everything and most likely finished the game. This game will need some more time until it is rich enough in content have any long term motivation that not other games already cover.

if you get over the fact that the monetization is very traditional, you have a unique collectible card game with a depth of play similar to Magic: The Gathering. Rounds can be pretty long and intense. There is the advantage of having no mana screw but you have to deal with another kind of randomization in terms of unit placement. This is something very difficult to grasp, since two turns ahead you don't know for sure if a lane is secure or not.
I have fun with the game mechanics and for it's first card set, the decks are pretty diverse. There are combo, control and aggro decks and because of the systems in place it allows for more unique card designs to come. This, in my opinion, is the biggest plus; It tries to alleviate the biggest weaknesses in MTG and sets a ground for a freedom of choice which only a select few of (strategy) card game have.

I've read the recommendations praising all different kinds of things but for me still one of the most outstanding things is the forest of Gothic II. To this day, I don't know any other RPG with a more cozy and beautiful forest. In Skyrim I just use the outworld to go from city A to city B, but Gothic II really invites you to go out and discover and feel the warmth, without being kitsch or romantic about it. In it's form, it's so inherently central and eastern european nature I can understand why germans and slavs love this game.
Imagine you get holidays from your work and you spend all your time so you can leave the city and go finally hiking, getting a breath of fresh air, clean your thoughts and discover. This is Gothic II. The atmosphere and it's music doesn't scream "fantasy" or "RPG", it says "home".

Most votes are negative because of the DLC policy. If you substract those comments, you got an overwhelming good game with the deepest unmodded strategy available of all games out there.
