Early Access Review
Boring game in general, no great loot, uninspired campaign and super slow. Thought i would love the more relaxed approach, but guess i´m got a zoomer-brain.

Just play PoE 1 if you want considerably more content, a much better and more fluent feeling gameplay and proper drops of loot. This ain´t it yet. I will update my review if they get their stuff together and they will, but that might not happen another 4 years or so.

Loot-wise this game feels like when last year, GGG somehow decided to bust PoE 1 by generally nerfing droprates to oblivion. Also crafting is comparable to how PoE 1 did it 10 years ago, very restricted.

Tl:dr: I really don´t like the way GGG approaches this game, its super slow and doesn´t atleast compensate time spent with a lil loot-drop-dopamine-rush.

CA's making the same mistakes EA made with battlefield; Trying to reshape titles which should be historically correct because of some political agenda. Sadness.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the time period, i LOVE the setting and i adore almost alle the different Total War games in the series. This is the first TW-game i can't reccomend and it's purely, because of the way they designed the provinces, which made playing the actual campaign pretty frustrating to me:
At first, i loved the detal everything is designed in, especially splitting every province into a city + some minor settlements which provide your realm with goods for trade and ressources. But there lies a big problem, which made me lose mir first playthrough; These "minor settlements" can't defend themselves. Early in the game i encountered it again and again, that an enemy army would invade my country, take 1 or 2 of these minor settlements in 2 rounds and while i chase that annoying army around (which sometimes even only consists of 2-5 troops) other factions being at war with my enemy occupy these minor settlements and make it impossible for me to re-conquer them for myself in order to gain their profits back.
So my main Province (Dublin) is now split between 3 different factions and there is nothing i could do (Besides of waging war) to get them back and one of those factions is an armada with 17 troops in their army. I can't produce enough food, my peasants are angry and my soldiers are starving; I lost my campaign to a tiny army without being able to do anything against it, that is frustrating. Not to mention, that now, in my 2nd attempt, the enemy army started to totally ignore me sieging their capital and going for my minor settlements to fully destroy my economy and let othere factions, again, take atleast 50% of my province.
I do hope for modders or devs to fix this, or atleast make you able to trade provinces/minor settlements so that there is a way to regain them without drawing blood. I wont abandon this game and i wont hate the devs for this, because initially, i fell in love with it and i hope to give it a second chance later on.

Just getting into it, but i can already say: Awesome, complex game which gives you way more flexibility and overall mecanics on the worldmap than games like the total war series would ever offer, at the cost of the whole live-battle part, which is totally okay for me.
All the different DLC's are giving the game more content and replayability. The Dinasty-focus in this game is the biggest difference (besides of the timeframe) to EU4 and it makes CK2 so much more enjoyable to me, since i love really getting into a role and playing through a dinasty instead of just sticking to a regional area :)
