One of the most Compelling Stories I Have Experienced - Highly Recommended

This is a great game for what it is. The story is highly emotional, and the time manipluation abilities are used fairly well throughout the game. A lot of the enjoyment of the game for me, revolved around seeing the consequences of my choices; and of course the ability to change some of those choices for different outcomes. I'm not going to give away anything about the story at all, other than it is one helluva roller coaster. I actually didn't see the twist near the end, and didn't expect the choice that had to be made at the end of the game. I just can't believe there's no Soundtrack available to purchase; the music is great! Now all I need is all LiS 2 Episodes to go on sale in a Bundle. Probably skipping out on Before the Storm, though... as much as I love Chloe, I don't want to play the game without Time Powers!!

Highly Recommended: Get At Full Price... So Worth It!

Definitely the best of the series so far. It's much longer and more challenging. There's multiple endings, which is awesome, but a lot of the end game revolves around backtracking... but I do like that you get to move around the island now. Overall, this is the culmination of what the 3rd game really should have been like. I am 100% satisfied with this game, other than some minor quirks. I played with Hints Off and after achieving the first ending, I was glad that I did. Really hoping there will be a Room 4 sometime soon. If it's as long and well thought-out as this game, then I'd pay even more money for it.

Neutral Recommendation: Only Pick Up At A Discount

- Gameplay: Interfacing with the game is fairly straightforward. You're using a simulation of a computer desktop. The main complaint is that you can only backspace to make changes to text in the Notepad program. You cannot edit the text freely, so if you want to make a change to something at the top of the file, you'd have to erase everything and start over. Luckily, you'll find that program is mostly useless.

The lame thing is that, for most cases, you can only turn in one-piece of evidence linking the person to the crime, although there may be several in reality. Also, you have to pick the right location for the person, so even if you have the evidence correct, if you don't choose the right location, it somehow ends up as a False Arrest. It doesn't really make any sense that you could have sufficient evidence, but a person is Falsely Accused because they were in a different location than you originally thought they were (i.e. at work instead of at home.) That's just dumb...

- Plot/Story: This is also fairly straightforward and not very awe-inspiring. You're working for a Big Brother goverment agency that was hacked and it's your job to bring down the Cyber Terrorists in fine fashion. The story is mostly told through Emails and Documents you find while hacking systems. It is honestly pretty forgettable, and is not very long.

- Graphics: This is a very minimalist retro-style game. The text takes a bit to get used to reading, in its pixelated format. There are no actual graphics options for tuning the look of the game.

- Music: The soundtrack is actually decent for this type of game. It's nothing to shake a stick at, but was mostly just chill music to give a spy-ish undertone to the game.

- Overall: I give the game a 6.5/10. It's fairly short, and was kind of interesting to play through, but it is an utterly forgettable experience that will leave you wanting to play something similar, but with much better design. Also... you will come to hate the chime sound every time you get a new chat or email.

TL;DR: All 23.2 Hours of My Current Playtime Was Done In One Sitting...

Pics Or It Didn't Happen, Right?. Yeah... That's how good this game is... and it's not even out of EA... There's a whole lot of potential, and I hope the devs continue to nuture this gem until it bears fruit. Also...
The game has Live Internet Radio with HUNDREDS of channels! I forgot that Bossa Nova Hits is not the actual soundtrack to this game... but it should be!!

The Review
I love the fact that I can listen to Internet Radio while playing this game. Combine that with the Shazam app on my phone, and I am discovering a lot of artists. It does have commercials though. :-/

The PC Building gamplay is spot-on... Very realistic procedures required to actually put together a working PC. Then there's overclocking and benchmarking and RGB for different components, with effects controllable via an in-game program. Some ppl hit u up for virus removal, some for general PC upgrades, some need to hit a certain benchmark or meet the Min - Recommended Specs for a certain game.... Some have a machine that won't turn on or won't boot to OS and you have to diagnosis it, and some just need you to build them a PC from the ground up, but within their budget, plus some other stuff.

I never really thought this game would be this addictive, but it most definitely is for me... You actually have to pay rent and bills for your shop.. Turning your lights off before you go home for the night actually reduces your Electricity Bill! You get to level up by earning XP and Ca$H with each successful job, netting you various upgrades to make assembling/disassembling easier, and tools that you can use on the PC's you work on.

Every single piece of Hardware in the game is a real-world licensed product, which is pretty cool considering I could literally make some of the PC Builds that I create in this game.

There are some flaws though:
  • Running 3D Benchmark Takes WAYYYY Too Long, like 2 minutes...
    - It's get's better when you can work on more than one PC at a time, but that leads me to...

  • Doing other tasks while running a Benchmark causes the entire game to freeze for about 1 - 3 seconds
    - More of a minor annoyance than anything else. The game runs flawlessly other than when running a Benchmark... which is quite often actually...

  • THERE IS NO CONFIRMATION FOR QUITTING A JOB...
    - Meaning you can accidentally click Quit when looking at an email, and that job is permanently gone without revocation.

  • Same-Day Shipping Costs Too Much. It should scale based on your total, or size of parts ordered.

  • This game desperately needs a Brightness setting!!!
    - The PCs and components are highlighted, so it's not the end of the world... but the dynamic range in the game needs some serious work.

  • This game also desperately needs a Notepad App!!!
    - You have any idea how hard it is to try to remember like "MSI GeForce GTX 1060 Ti VR 6G LE" when looking at a list of like 100 other similar names in a comparison chart? That ♥♥♥♥ is HARD!!!

  • Please give us a better way to compare items for benchmarking!

  • The forced slow down in the Loading Bar when an App is almost finished installing is just annoying.
    - I still remember that I'm playing a game. I don't need it to be too realistic.

That's all I can think of for now... but even still, I'm obviously in love with this game. I want to call into work sick for the next 2 weeks straight, and do absolutely nothing but build PC's in a virtual world... How sad is that?

Highly Recommended

This is a great follow up to the first game. The combat is vastly different, which takes some getting use to at first, but I think it fits pretty well with the flow of the game.

The main draw of this sequel is the continuation of Arid's story. Considering that this is a trilogy, I'm pretty satisfied with the content in this game. I do wish it were a bit longer, but you do have to play through it at least twice to get 100% Achievements.

I like that you get to play as different characters in this game, but this also minimizes that actual screen-time with Arid. Overall, I think it was essential to the story and it actually has widened the depth of the unvierse that Arid inhabits.

In it's entirety (assuming Part 3 continues to improve upon design and gameplay), I think that this is one of the best Conscious AI-based games/series that I have ever played. The only drawback is it really leaves you wanting more.

Picked the game up at full price, and I think it's worth it.

Much better than Dead Space 1. Great job of creating atmosphere and the story is superb. Dead Space is my favorit FPS/TPS Survival Horror series.

It's been about 8 years since I first & last played this game. All 56 of my current hours are from Solo Play, never tried multiplayer. Even still, it was a pretty fun game, though a bit repetitive. I really like the Gun play, they're all fairly realistic. My favorite was the Winchester Rifle. The Zed-time feature was done very well, getting a headshot has never been more satisfying in any other game that I've played.

I think I only stopped playing because there was an issue with the perk system and my points were reset after all that playtime... To be honest, I didn't think the game would come anywhere near as far as it has. Over the years, I've been watching all these DLCs and stuff come out for this game, which was initially "just another Zombie FPS Survival game", and I think that's pretty cool. From small beginnings and all that jazz.... I just don't like having to constantly pay for new content a la DLC for a game I've already bought.

Anyway, the point is, this game's been out for a long ass time and it still seems to be going strong... Time to put the DLCs and KF2 on the Wishlist and wait for them to go on sale. I'm ready for some more Zed-time.

TL;DR
  • This is a Reboot (not a Remake) of the game Prey from 2006
  • It is an excellent FPS with RPG elements. There are no Levels or Experience, but there's a Skill Tree and New Game +
  • It has top-notch gameplay, atmosphere, voice-acting and multiple endings. You can be either Male or Female. Unfortunately, the male Morgan's voice actor is much better than the female. She sounds a little disingenuous. :-/
  • *** To Reduce the incredibly annoying Hard Freezes, set Texture Quality to Medium and set Screen Space Directional Occlusion to OFF
  • Keep reading...

Best Reboot of Any Game I've Ever Played

First Off, to pay homage... This is a reboot of the original 2006 game Prey, which I first played on GameTap (a failed precursor to Steam) many years ago. It was absolutely nothing like this reboot, but was an amazing game in it's own right. It was also about aliens, sure, but it was about an alien invasion of Earth, and subsequent abduction onto the alien craft. The things they were doing to humans on that craft was just messed up. It was also about Native American Folklore (part of my own heritage) though, and a member of a tribe who had lost touch with the "old ways," and had to regain that connection in order to grow his spiritual powers, so he could fight this new threat. The story was amazing, the gameplay was amazing, the level design was crazy inside the ship (think if M. C. Escher designed a space ship o_O) and I had loads of fun playing it. It was kind of a head trip. A sequel, Prey 2, was being made but.... was cancelled due to this 2017 reboot of the title.

Now as for this version of Prey... You will not recognize anything at all from the original title. The meaning of the word Prey has changed, and it is explained in an Audio Log within the game. I have to say, though, that this version is absolutely amazing so far as well.

There's so much to do on the Talos 1 space station, so much to explore, so many optional quests. The station is huge, but it's all layed out in full scale, including space outside the station. It is literally orbiting the Moon, which is orbiting the Earth, and all orbiting the Sun, which makes for excellent moving shadows, ambient occlusion, and different scenes outside the windows, depending on your location.

There's a real sense of progress in this game, both with traversing the station, and with your ability to deal with enemies. There's a lot of choices to be made, which will affect the Ending you get. There are several different types of weapons in the game, and each one continues to be useful throughout the game because of the way they designed the Typhons. It makes a big difference and helps conserve ammo when taking advantage of a specific Tyhpon's weakness. Everything in this game makes sense, and the world is Persistent, so enemy corpses and items you drop on the ground do not disappear at all, ever... this is very convenient for reasons I will let you discover on your own.

Enemies do not respawn, but you will find that some areas may have new Typhon appear after you have completed certain objectives. This actually makes backtracking feel less like a chore and more like its a part of the actual progress of the game. Idk if you can even call it backtracking, because eventually you can roam the entire station as you please. There's a main lift and you can even open airlocks and then space walk to different parts of the station for faster travel.

I love the fact that you can really play Morgan however you want, including the ability to kill or save the survivors... or even kill the survivors after you save them (which is just messed up lol). But on this playthrough, I chose not to even use any Typhon powers at all, and I don't feel like I'm lacking at all. I can still easily outwit, out maneuver, and outright decimate my enemies using effective strategy and proper weaponry. There's so much more to say about the game, but it's best left to actually be experienced in a playthrough. I don't want to give away too much.

Do I really need to review this? I mean, this is a classic. If you haven't played this by now, then may I suggest that you stop wasting your life away and buy this? You have to experience the story at least once. Most of us experience the story like 5+ times. We may take a hiatus for a couple years, but that inkling to play through this game never completely goes away. They just don't make em like this any more.

My Top 3 RPGs:
  1. Chrono Trigger
  2. Shining Force 2
  3. Final Fantasy VII

EDIT: Oh... one thing is the control scheme is completely bunk. You'll definitely want to edit that before playing on your controller. And also, I suggest playing through the game without any mods, then downloading Tifa's 7th Heaven. Just Google it and be sure to thank the makers of the mods!
