You are the Chosen One... Embrace Your Destiny...

I should've given this a positive review a long time ago...
While the combat and story are lacking a bit of depth, and the graphics aren't super stellar, this is still an amazingly ambitious game in its scope. If you have ever wanted to stand on a planet, look up then fly outside of the atomsphere, outside of the solar system, outside of our galaxy, and travel to other worlds entirely, then this is the game for you.

Most of my playtime is just me flying around the universe once I get superluminal speed. This game really gives you a sense of how incredibly vast and uncaring our universe is. No, it's not an exact model of the universe, but it is an entire universe on its own. You can fly to ANY spec of light that you can see... like any single one, and it will actually be a galaxy that you can enter and explore. The exploration is really the reward, because its not like one guy could program a game that has playable content on trillions upon trillions of planets set within billions of galaxies. If you're a space nut like me, then the feeling of seeing all of this in scale is just amazing.

After finding the monoliths, I literally travelled in one direction for over 25 mins trying to see if there was a border to this seemingly infinite expanse... I got some funny messages from the dev, but no sign of the universe actually ending anytime soon.... Just endless galaxies upon galaxies with some more galaxies thrown in just to mix it up.

I visited a planet within a nebula in one galaxy and unleashed Holy Hell on the surface, flew through the clouds of a Gas Giant, found a Black Hole (only b/c it was orbited by 3 stars & a gigantic Accretion Disk) and tried to fly into it, stood on the surface of a blue M Class star, contemplated the fact that this is actually happening IRL, then decided to go back to Earth... It took me another 25+ minutes to actually reach the Milky Way again! And without the ping, I would have been completely lost, no idea where I was in the universe, no idea how to return home... and I LOVED it!

I can't thank the Dev enough for making this game... I really, really hope that it will inspire a great AAA title someday that has this same feeling of absolute grandeur.

EDIT: Also... try not to sneeze when your Megaton Blast is fully charged. You might accidentally level an entire city... like I did -_-

Not sure why I didn't finish this years ago... It's actually pretty short.
Everything that really needs to be said has been in other reviews... Overall, I guess I enjoyed the novelty of the game, but it's really not as good as it could have been.

The platforming/parkour, while fun in some cases, just gets incredibly annoying in some levels due to how imprecise it can be. This kind of sucks, considering that it is the only real draw to the game - the story is mediocre, the ending is anticlimactic, the combat is just absymal (Idk why they didn't balance it more), the Slow-time Effect is not implented well, the Runner Symbols are hard to locate, and some of the checkpoints are way off - causing you to have to do the same series of jumps/climbs/swings to get back to the same point just to Faith forget to grab onto a ledge again, causing you to wash rinse and repeat once more...

I think the only thing I really enjoyed was the concept of the game. Really just wanted to beat it, so I can pick up Mirrors Edge 2 at some point. It's worth a playthrough on sale... but don't expect your mind to be blown

EDIT: Oh... the music is actually really good

Amazing Game... especially considering it's free. The music is ridiculously good, and the story is pretty interesting (Multiple Endings FTW!!!). The combat system is very simple, yet effective, and there's a real sense of progress when you level up. I won't go into a long-winded spiel about why I think this game is great - you can read other reviews for that... All I'm sayin is... this is one of the best One-Man-Band Indie RPGs I have ever played. Kudos to Holy Priest!

It's been a while since I played this game, but I remember that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Not because it was super easy and everything was layed out perfectly for me, but because the game was seriously challenging and gave you a good persepctive of how lost you would be in that situation. Yes, there are hard puzzles - Yes, the game mechanics require you to use more than one strategy to survive - Yes, some solutions may not make much sense to you... but that's the point. You're in a backwards world where normal human logic does not apply to every situation.

The most captivating thing about the game was definitely the story for me. Of course, I went into the game knowing that I was not going to get the complete story, given that this was the first of a multi-part series. I still felt that is was a great introduction into ARID's character, and really got me invested in the continuation of her story. I thought the voice acting was good, and the interactions between the characters seemed genuine as well.

I would give the game a 7/10 for Overall Experience... but a lot of my feelings of the game are predicated on the fact that ARID's story will continue to be great in subsequent games. Hopefully that doesn't get ruined in Part 2... which I hope goes on Sale soon, 'cause that's the best way to buy a game. :-)

Buy At a Discount, then Download Free Stuff Online.

Over the course of a week, I've played this game 110 hours... It's still great after all these years, but the EPs and SPs are just too frickin expensive. Get them when they're heavily discounted, but keep in mind there are several sites out there that will allow you to mod the absolute hèll out of this game, and also some with TONS AND TONS (and I mean TUHHNZZUH) of FREE content, like:
  • New Careers & Social Interactions
  • Improvements to Relationship Panel
  • New types of stuff to Build/Buy
  • Ridiculously swank custom houses
  • Completely custom made towns inhabited by handmade sims
  • Custom Create-a-sim features like Cat/Vampire/Supernova Eyes, and realistic skin, and better hairstyles, and better clothes, and Bling.
  • New Frickin Vehicles
  • Disabling the annoying carpool after you have your own ride
  • Mods that clean up the junk in your game every night, like radios/tvs that were never turned off, and abandoned cars
There's so much stuff is kind of insane actually. I won't post the links to the sites here... I'm always weary of clicking a random link on a forum post. I recommend just Googling Mod The Sims, Nraas, The Sims Resource, and Carls Sims 3 Guide. So yeah... if you're ready to sink your life into making a life for something that doesn't exist, then yes - you should buy this game.

I Really Recommend That You DO NOT Use a Solution Guide! Using your own brain power to objectively create a solution to a problem is one of the most gratifying things about this game.

This is a great game, with a great atmosphere and goregeous modern graphics. I really enjoyed my playthrough... Unfortuntely, the experience is short-lived, as you can 100% the game in like 6 or 7 hours. The gameplay is incredibly linear (other than optional secret rooms), and depending on your train-of-thought, it's also incredibly predictable, but at least there are mulitple endings. There's no real replayability, but the storyline is worth a run through your psyche. The puzzles are fun and quite satisfying. If you're somewhat good at logic, then some will be stupidly easy while others prove very challenging, and require you to flex your brain muscle to comprehend a possible solution. Finally figuring out that elusive solution for crazy puzzles that span multiple rooms, can be quite satisfying.

NOTE: It's minor, but do not read the section below if you want absolutely no help in beating this game...

Begin Spoiler

There is one exception - the most difficult puzzle I solved was an optional one with over 50 Triggers spread across like 5 rooms, which involved Boolean Logic Symbols. The only clue to this is the title of the room, which you can miss if you're not paying attention. To progress through the entire room and get the achievement, you have to solve the logic to open the next door. If you're not familiar with Boolean Logic Symbols (I hadn't used them since College like 15 yrs ago), then this will literally be almost impossible, as there's millions of different total combinations (not solutions, just combinations) to try out.

Once you realize what the symbols actually mean (which are not used anywhere else in the entire game), then it becomes a cakewalk, as there are technically mulitple solutions for a few of the doors. For those unfamiliar with Boolean Logic Symbols, I recommend that you only look up the meaning of V and ^ (upsidedown V), and not the actual solution. This will help you greatly, and you can still use your own brain to figure out the rest of the solution.

End Spoiler

Definitely Recommended. Would love a Sequel - The 2uring Test: Ava's Odyssey - or some jazz... ^_^

This is the best, most immersive dystopian video game I have ever played. Words cannot describe the feelings I had while experiencing this story the first time. The atmosphere is fearsome, bleak and daunting. The ending is insane... I highly, highly recommend playing this game at least once - plus there is some awesome (and not so awesome) content on the Workshop.

I bought Conarium last night and played a bit. I logged into Steam today and had 3 new Trading Cards from Conarium and one for - Murder Miners Double Dream Hands. My thoughts:

- What is Murder Miners? This is in my library?
- Wtf? When did I buy this?
- How are there .3 hours on record? I don't remember ever installing this.
- Did I grab this years ago and log in for 20 minutes while toking on some guud shiz, then uninstall?
- Why would I do that unless the game was terrible? - That makes no sense.
- Why did that Old Woman really live in a Shoe?
- How much did I pay for this?
- How the hell did I get that Trading Card from playing Conarium?
- (Does it really matter? Free Card - w00t!!)
- What are Double Dream Hands? Sounds like a bad äss finishing move.
- What is going on Steam???
- I MUST SOLVE THIS MYSTERY!!!

[Installs Murder Miners for seemingly the 2nd time... Will provide actual review of game later]

This game is very fun and has a great story line. Rouglike Replayability is done well, and gameplay feels rewarding. The achievements/unlockables are a great touch, and the free Vengeance Expansion is awesome.

The Developers are also just simply great people. Ogre Head is a 2 man team out of India. I bought this game a few days after it came out. My Matricom USB Game Controller was not recognized by the game, which sucked because I didn't want to use M+KB for this game.

I emailed the Devs with some log files, and they replied later that day saying they created a Beta version just for me to test out my controller. It worked and they released an update to the main game branch the next day, just to add support for my controller. This is ridiculously amazing, considering the way some Developers (indie or not) won't update their games for major flaws, let alone to support one type of controller.

You should buy this game because it is amazing, but you should keep an eye out for all games by Ogre Head, and support the Dev Team. Again, they are great guys and they deserve it.

Years ago, I had the original version from a non-legit source, and the graphics is what kept me from playing it through. I bought the Definitive version on steam a while back and I could tell a big difference in the graphics. It was much better looking, ran smoother, and had less artifacts (no V-Sync required this time around.)

I was extremely lucky I guess, as I had no major issues with this version of the game. There were some minor bugs, like a few cars disappearing after I went inside of a building (which would suck if I had supplies in the bed of a truck.) But other than that, the game played like Aces for me.

I really enjoyed the gameplay and customizing melee weapons. I love the slow-down effect when you slice an infected's head off in one clean blow. The durability system (while annoying) is probably less harsh than it could be. Considering how thick some of the infected bodies are, your machete would really dull quite quickly.

I do think that the inventory space is a little too limited for all characters, considering how much junk is found EVERYWHERE. And if you return to an area you've already been to, or just do a Quick Save and then Quick Load, the items are back in the suitcases... not very realistic, but I guess it works.

I do wish there was a better mapping system when it comes to Quests and Objectives. Some quests require you to go pick up an item from the other side of the island and then return it back to this person, only to end up getting a quest from someone else who requires you to return to that same area on the other side of the island. There's a quick travel feature, but the maps required aren't as abundant as it should be considering how big both of the islands are.

The story line wasn't too bad either, although I feel like there's some plot holes they could have filled. There's also some areas that seem like they would lead to a secret cache or something, but are really just there to waste your time, or draw infected out of hiding.

The most annoying thing in the game is collecting the special Skulls to get the Legendary Developer weapons, as they require some very specific things to be accomplished in a very specific order, otherwise you will cut off access to that skull until later in the game, or possibly just lose access completely. Also, guns seems much a bit underpowered once you either get the developer melee weapons, or just learn the right blueprints. Elementals Melee weapons are tïts!!!

It is also good that the infected level up as you do, so that you are always getting a semi-decent amout of experience. This is also helped by the fact that they will re-spawn once you're out of an area long enough. At first, this was also annoying, but considering how much experience you need to get to level 50 (or beyond), it makes sense.

Overrall, I thoroughly enjoyed this game and would play through it again. I recommend it, but be wary of the bugs that others are reporting. You may luck out like me, though, and have no issues at all.
