This is a fantastic coop shootem game, and I'm glad community outcry got rid of Sony's account requirement. Now you need to do the same for the rest of your titles!

Having never played an AC game before, only Mechwarriors 5 a bit, my work buddy told me to check this out and man am I glad that he did! This game is a blast, the controls feel fluid and easy to pick up (on a controller at least) and it puts me in the zone. Collecting gear is fun and they implemented good customization, which can be taken to the extreme with the decal editor. Bosses are reminiscent of Souls bosses but feel way less intimidating because you're blasting dual miniguns and a hailstorm of rockets at them! I haven't found a game where I just shredded through missions without even a thought of a break, and as soon as I beat the campaign I just started over not even really knowing there's more to do in following playthroughs! Few new games give me that -hunger- to keep playing like when I was younger lol.

Including my original negative review because Sega is still wonky with layoffs and seemingly undervaluing this series instead of realizing their mistakes. But I felt obligated to vote with my review and tell Sega to stop killing this game and just make good content. We will buy it if the money is right.

Thrones of Decay and the reparations for Shadows of Change are both very good, and while I don't agree with the price hike still atleast they aren't brazenly scalping us, and splitting the DLC's is consumer friendly. Let's see what you've got cooking next CA.

It's painfully obvious that Sega/CA is trying to milk the goodwill of the this community. I gladly bought every single DLC for the last two installments, and price wasn't even a consideration. The amount of content for the money being asked was right. Now, they're hoping that we can help them from recover from other failing financial ventures by upcharging DLC in one of their biggest hits. Meanwhile delivering some of the most lackluster content we've seen. Really just an embarrassing display of greed from what I thought could truly be the best trilogy in gaming.

After hitting 1,000 hours (and 7 years later) I think I can finally give a review that will be reflective of the current game and any future patches.

So DayZ. I came from the mod, back when I was just a kid, and I was mystified by DayZ. Zombies were cool then and they are still to some degree now. When Standalone DayZ came out we were all so excited, yet the cracks (or earthquakes) appeared quickly. The game was very obviously early access, rife with bugs and game breaking glitches around every tree, bush and rock. Nowadays it's not so bad.

This game does have the feeling of survival, depending what server you're playing on. The base game itself isn't all that amazing. Spawn rates are low, coastal cities are more visually impressive and expansive, yet due to the 1.09 update there isn't any point in going to them because there's never anything useful. This does give the game a more "survivalist" feel to it but in reality it's just artificial difficulty. The game wants you to move inland, so you do. You find a gun, MAYBE some ammo for it, and oh wow! Look at that, a car! And it works! You get in, start driving, barely collide with a stone barrier and the car goes flying into 5000 barrel rolls in the sky and teleports you under the map. Assuming you even manage to get the car that far before it starts hopping around on its wheels, lodging itself under the ground, any number of things. 7 years and they can't get cars to work? Can you think of ANY other game where after 7 years the cars don't even have somewhat reliable performance?

That's pretty much your experience with the base game. Sure, there's "base building" i.e walls that can't be customized for different building scenarios, doors that can't be opened if the 4 pixel sweet spot isn't visible. Not to mention unless you're blocking off a building with 15 airlocks, the walls can just be jumped over easily by cheesing game mechanics.

Yet I can't bring myself to hate DayZ's base game. It's alright for what it is. It's more grounded in reality than most survival games, less cartoony (outside of the zombies I suppose), and feels more slow and grindy than some other games. The real redemption for this game is the mods. The developers of the actual game can't be bothered to add in more guns, just re-release old ones that were removed for... no real reason, I guess. I can't be all to excited about an update that brings back the revolver only for it to STILL not have a way to play Russian Roulette. Or bringing back the trumpet, the most terrible piece of garbage weapon you can get your hands on essentially. And this update took months? Sure there's the Deagle (Which has been in the game files for awhile), and a few new house interior variants that still have loot spawning in mid air where the other variants would have shelves/beds/whatever. I genuinely don't understand how an "update" by a non-indie game developer can take months and still have so little to offer. It's pretty apparent at this point that BI has given up on this game, and having given the community the ability to mod it (FINALLY) they expect us players to fix this broken, featureless, and unpolished game into what we want it to be.

You might be wondering why this review is positive with all the crap I'm talking, and the only answer is: Mods. Now you can have more weapons, more cars (that actually work since modders apparently have a better understanding of the game than the actual developers), even helicopters! Modular base building, more storage items, a better looking Chernarus to run around in. All the things we had back in the mod for Arma 2. Things that a development team from a game studio apparently can't wrap their heads around despite being the entire reason the mod got popular. The only downside to this is there is no true "single player" that you can have the exact experience you want in. Your only option is to fork out some cash and rent a server that you can haphazardly try to install the mods you want into, only for it to all be broken in the next update because the devs changed the name of a variable for apparently no reason.

Despite all this, if you see DayZ on sale for $20 and you've never played it, just go for it. There's hundreds of hours of tense survival, rage inducing gunfights and base raids, wildlife hunting, and servers to try. Not to mention that some players are really cool people. Obviously not all, but when you get a squad of guys together and go build an awesome base and get some PvP in it can be great fun. Just realize that this game is, and always will be, an early access title that's been stitched together by its modding community.

This game is what Diablo 3 should have been. The only question you have to ask yourself before buying this game is: Do I like ARPG's? If the answer is yes, buy it already!

Very fun game, easily beats Chivalry in this category. The meta can seem challenging to understand at first with dragging/accelerating your strikes as well as people swinging around with 5000 DPI. Lots of customization and the community isn't as toxic as they say, if you see someone unsavory, just mute them.

Not allowing us to mod this game is just ridiculous. Not allowing it from the first place would have been different, but to just ban modding in your massively popular game after a few years? You can't take something that people have had away from them and expect them to be happy. Bad publishers.

A great FPS following in the steps of games like Doom or Quake. I played it first as a kid, it's what got me into gaming in the first place. The atmosphere then creeped the hell out of me, and I was honestly too scared to get past the third level until I got older. It still holds up to the test of time, and I'd recommend it today (especially when it's on sale for $1.50!).

Surprisingly the multiplayer still has servers running with a large amount of people playing. The multiplayer isn't anything revolutionary, it's a shooter. Nothing more and nothing less, because it doesn't try to be. And it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fantastic.
