First let me start by saying this: I've played this off steam, daily, for over a year, so my "hours on record" are misleading.

With that out of the way, This game is amazing and very addicting so be careful.

Despite what most of the reviews say, it is a free game. You can beat all the quests and all the story quests without paying a dime. You can even have fun playing the PVP without having to pay anything. But to have a great time, you just need to know how to build your character and to make sure you're getting as many astrial diamonds throughout the day as possible so you can use them as currency in the auction house for better gear and items. If you don't, then you'll be less powerful than people who have pay-to-win accounts.

If you're looking for a great MMO to play with your friends without everyone having to purchase the game and DLC and things, then this is the best alternative that I have found. You'll have hours of fun for free. 9/10 Would make many more charaters.
