Solid 9/10 Experience.
A game that's 90% stealth based escort missions, and it's the 10% that's not that made me take off a point (no spoilers.) It takes talent to pull that off.

It's like the developers looked at the two most hated types of video game levels (Stealth Missions and escort missions) and said : Let's do this right.
You escort your little brother who is
1) not annoying in the least
2) glued to your side when you want him to be, and completely hidden when you don't
3) Occasionaly they let you escort someone else with special powers (lock picking, opening doors, ect)

The stealth takes a WAY more active role than typical stealth games. You're never waiting for a guards patrol or agro to run out, you're shooting out lights and tricking guards into going the wrong way. This is basically the opposite experience of say, the garbage MJ level on spiderman. It is just so much more dynamic.

The game tries really hard to be the next Portal but fails on some really important counts.

Pros :
The narrative is griping. It compels the tedium forward and you really want to get to the end, and the narrative is interwoven with the gameplay mechanics in meaningful ways

Cons :
The game already makes you walk in circles for a puzzle you already know how to complete. For example at one point you find a locked door with a keypad. You need to walk all the way to the furthest point in the map, including a slow elevator ride (there is no sprint). Find the keycode (which is stupidly obvious where it is located). Read the keycode. Walk all the way back to enter the keypad number (the first time you do this the game remembers for you, but hope you wrote it down the second time).

Then for the REAL puzzles. They are exceedingly easy from a fundamental level. If you could see the entire map from an above perspective you'd probably solve it in seconds. However you have to go through these winding corridors with dead ends and confusing perspectives, and it is quite possible to lock yourself from progressing. When this happens you need to go all the way back to the very beginning of the puzzle. The game also has random drops to your death that are relativly easy to avoid that will restart the puzzle.

This is particularly taxing in the end game, which finally broke me. While the beginning most puzzles are short enough it's fine to restart (3 minutes to complete when you know the solution) for some baffling reason the endgame is this super long corridor with 3 or 4 rooms chained together. I managed to box myself into a corner on the 3rd room and I was forced to restart the entire 20 minute long nonsense. I turned the game off and haven't gone back since.

A great idea hampered by some lackluster executing. A large patch or some modding could significantly improve the experience.

It's just more of the original and doesn't have nearly the flow. Even after the whole microtransaction controversial stuff got removed, it's still really a grind to play.

I encountered a game breaking bug about 10 hours in and I just decided ♥♥♥♥ it never mind.

Came back and tried it again a few times but I just can't be bothered. Save your money and just replay the first one.

Solid roguelike. Scratches the same itch as FTL but somehow pulls it off in a much more satisifying way. Game Maker's Toolkit video convinced me to buy it so if you're unsure I highly recommend watching it (Synergy)

It's good some really solid concepts, but it suffers from some odd jankey choices (can only save by drinking a potion/sleeping, limited save slots, combat can be inscruitable to beginners). I really want to like it. I enjoy it for a few hours at a time. Then I hit some weirdness that just feels awful. It's like a grown up Skryim. Does have some really great moments. I hate the up/down review arrow, but honestly I'd give this like a 6/10. Solid worth the play, but not for everyone.

It's fun enough. The negative press was overblown. Unfortunetly there is no one playing. I enjoy just killing bots

Big XCOM fan and I thought this might scratch that itch, but it never particularly clicked for me. I think the "games as a service" idea sullied what could have been a cool campaign at its core.

Fun for awhile, but the grind tends to wear on me and I get burnt out after playing for a few days. I keep coming back to it over time but I've never even made it to the end dungeon.

Really cool in concept, in practice it's a bit repetitive. Especially in the 2000 esk turn based sections really boring, and I was a huge fan of those style games.

The hack and slash sections were fun and more well paced.

It felt weird how the game kept popping back between hack and slash and turn based. It just didn't seem to mesh well and messed up the pacing of the whole game.

I wish steam had a star system, I'd give this game a 3/5. I would recommend the game, but you need to temper your expectations. I choose a negative review just to balance out the positive reviews.

They do a good job with the narrative and cheeky references. The game overwhelms you with the upgrade system at the beginning. Would have been nice if the pacing was a bit slower for that section to enjoy it a little bit more. I think it was a big missed oppertunity for the gameplay itself to be a pardoy of the genre. Instead we're met with a cheap immitation that simply recognizes that tropes exist rather than saying anything interesting or constructive about them.

Also experienced some pretty extreme buggy texture tearing about 2 hours in, right before ambient light kicked in.

A bit more combat focused than minecraft, which to me was a big draw. The game has clear goals and milestones to accomplish but gives the oppertunity for freedom and exploration.
