Snoot Game 2: Gator Edition

Jokes aside. This game...This absolute masterpiece...
Brought out so many emotions. I was constantly finding myself smiling, laughing, mouth agape in shock, and even found myself crying at times. Crying hard. After finishing the game, I HAD to go back and get Ending 4, the best ending.

Slowly watching as the intrusive Olivia who barely speaks to anyone and keeps to herself slowly open up over time to the new human boy. From forming short sentences to smiling and cracking jokes with the human, Inco, to sharing small loving tender moments together. Seeing not just Olivia but Inco develop as people really puts a smile on my face. And just like with Snoot Game, it puts it into perspective that I myself also have room to grow and better myself.

I could go on and gush for hours about I Wani Hug that Gator and Snoot Game

Thank you again, Cavemanon. You've now given me two wonderful experiences that will forever be a part of me.

Upon hearing about this game's port to Steam on Wayforward's website, I was ecstatic. Checking the Steam store everyday in hopes to see it. And the day has finally arrived! I'm a fan of Wayforward's Shantae series so I was eager to jump into their other games.

Story
In Mighty Switch force, you play as the aptly named Patricia Wagon after what appears to be a prison transport vehicle crashes and releases all of these blonde female prisoners in short shorts, miniskirts, and low cut dresses. And taken from both the background and the stages itself, the game appears to take place in a dystopian like universe or more like the Chemical Plant zone from Sonic 2

Gameplay
The game is in short, is a puzzle platformer. As you progress through levels, you use Patricia's ability to alter reality, bringing blocks and other items in existance and taking others out. All the while, capturing the escaped prisoners and taking out the occasional baddie with your laser pistol. You aren't actually given a tutorial and your just thrown right into the game after starting the first level and getting a quick cutscene that stages the story. Patricia can only take three hits, so if those three hearts get depleted, it's back to the stage selection screen for you. Fortunately, you can restore her health by eating...floppy discs? She says yum so she must be eating them for whatever reason.

Levels
All the levels are rather unique, introducing a new mtheod to solving puzzles with each stage, along with an amazing soundtrack that are unique to each individual stage. And each stage having a bit of replayability due to their being a par time to see how fast you can complete it. And after playing a few levels, it seems rather difficult to accomplish, at least from my perspective.

Artstyle
I felt like I needed to mention this. I can't get over Wayforward's artstyle and feeling the need to praise it whenever given the chance. It's phenomenal.

Negatives
There are a few bad things to say about this title, as I mentioned before there's no tutorial. Whether you see this as a good thing or a bad thing, it's entirely opinion. But I honestly prefer some sort of introduction to Patricia's ability to bend reality. Granted there are few controls so not much to get upset over. And there really isn't much of a story which I think is rather unfortunate considering that their Shantae series is brimming with life and a story with witty dialogue that's sure to be remembered. While the only dialogue you'll be getting here is "Justice is Served" or "Checkpoint"!

Verdict
It's a honestly a rather fun enjoyable game that's easy to jump right into. And for the price of ten dollars, it's not bad especially if your a Wayforward fan

Interestingly enough, I used to despise this game back when I first played. But now here I am, with almost 80 hours sunk into it on PC and still counting. After looking past what I disliked about the game, I realized why so many people loved it!

Warning, review will contain SOME spoilers. Granted this game has been out for a while so does it still even count?

Story
The main story of this game isn't really all that...at first. You're just some courier in the Mojave Wasteland some years after the great war decimated majority of the planet. You and some other couriers were tasked in delivering a parcel, all of them were fake except for yours. Some jerkoff in a checkered suit catches you and plants a shiny bullet right into your skull. You wake up the next day after being dug up by a robot and some old man is able to repair your face with miraculous skill. Then you set off to find that man who ruined your night. Which ends up dragging you into something FAR greater. Something a mere courier wouldn't expect to deal with. The story unravels itself more and more as you progress through the game, making a name for yourself in the Wasteland, and the people you encounter.

The Mojave Wasteland
My first and one of my main complaints of the game was just how barren it is, at first. When I first played this game, it seemed like there was absolutely nothing to explore just vast emptiness with no location to discover. And that is where the patience comes in. You have to put in the time to explore the Mojave and you'll discover that there are copius amounts of locations. Unless you take a certain perk that reveals all the locations to you. Or when you come across a town, ask the people, they'll usually give you quests to go explore some new areas to find some item or person. And when you think of the Mojave, you think of the desert right? Well...you're right. The main game itself is comprised of the desert except for an area on the map that's covered in trees, grass, and snow which really contrasts to what you've been trekking through for the past few hours. Nearly every area is unique and doesn't make you feel like you were just there. At one moment you'll be at some farm with two headed, skinless, cows and the next you'll be at the Strip with all of it's bright lights and rather easy escorts.

Characters
Through your adventures through the wastes, you'll encounter quite the number of characters from soldiers, to drug addicts, to the regular people just trying to survive. And you'll come across factions that whether you do nice things for them or piss them off, will assist you in the final upcoming battle at the end of the game. Eventually, you'll get rather lonely wandering the Mojave, fortunately for you their are some colorful characters who will love to keep you company in your travels! such as; a floating eyebot, a cyborg dog, a sniper,a nightkin who acts like your grandmother, and more! Each come with their own passive perk that will assist you. Some are more helpful than others though and they all come with their own special quests. A downside to so many characters, is that eventually you'll get sick of hearing the same 5 voices again and again. On the upside, special npcs have their own voice actor thatonly does THEIR voice which could help you draw away the idea that everyone not important is just a clone of each other.

Items
If you like items in your games then do I have some news for you. This game is brimming with items, a good chunk of them are actually useless and are garbage. The others however are of actual use! You have a serious large amount of weapons at you disposal, some even can be modded. Raning from your conventional firearms to melee weapons and energy weapons. The guns being capable of firing various types of ammunition for that extra kick. But the most important weapons are the unigues, special version of pre-existing weapons that have their own name and usually better stats. You can come across these by eithering buying them(If you have the DLC) or you find them in the Mojave. Along with the weapons, theirs a whole wardrobe of armor that you can wear from light, medium, to heavy and the all favorite power armor. And just like the weapons, the apparel also have uniques as well. And for the good ol post apocalyptic universe wouldn't be complete without the ability to get addicted to drugs, am I right? Ahem...yes! You can addicted to the various narcotics of the wasteland (Dusk does not condone the use of drugs, has never done drugs, and this was merely a joke for the reader)

Enemies
Strangely enough, when your trotting around, decked in power armor and swinging a hulking minigun, some idiot still wants to pick a fight with you. Usually if you pissed off their faction enough they'll come a knockin to put you back in the grave you were dug up from. Just so long as your not a jerk, the only thing you'll have to deal with are the mutations that were unlucky enough to drink one too many rad-colas, and some junkies. I would put in Super mutants but they're not as prominent in the Mojave as they were in the previous games.

Gameplay
Ugh...finally! This nerd gets to the gameplay! Yes! I have! The gameplay is your average, shoot or beat anything that wants to kill you and what not. but you have this special ability that NO ONE else has! You can stop TIME ITSELF! Yet, you decided to name it V.A.T.S. Well, you're hired to deliver mail not create witty names. This special ability alows you to target various parts of the enemies bodies to deal massive damage at the cost of AP or Action Points. Deal enough dmamage to a limb and the enemy will become crippled. Or you can be Quick draw mcgee and blast their weapon out of their hands! And you can do it in either first OR thirdperson! But your time stopping powers don't stop there! You were apparently a relative of the great James Bond and whenever you pull up your arm mounted computer or Pip-Boy, you stop time immdiately. The Pip-Boy being you menu where you equip items, check your status, see quests, take a gander at the map or just to play some music. And oonce you've slain enough baddies and completed enough quests, you gain a level where you can put points into various skills and acquire a perk every two levels.

Mods
Even after you've done EVERYTHING int he game. Gotten every achievement, acquired every items, solved everyone's problems and you STILL want to play but you don't know what you can do anymore? Or maybe you just don't like a specific aspect of the game? HAVE NO FEAR! Mods are hear! With glorious mods you can change your character's model, add new weapons, areas, quests, add new perks or raise the level cap. You can expand your game INFINITELY! Or utnil modders decide to stop modding the game which doesn't seem likely in the near future.

Complaints
Yes, as I said before, I had some complaints about this game. The main one is that it's extremely buggy. You'll run itno bugs and glitches all the time, espceially on the console version. Sometimes the game will freeze when you're loading into a new area. Which happened to me one time on the Xbox version after I put in 3 hours of gameplay and forgot to save. So SAVE OFTEN. And occasionally, when you leave a casino and they return your weapons to you(Gotta give up those guns when you walk in), you might not get them all back. Really bad if it was a unique weapon on the console version.

Verdict
This game is honestly really enjoyable most of the time but can't really get on your nerves if you don't have the patience to deal with it. It's not a difficult game to run for most computers so you won't really need anything beefy. If you're looking for a game to really sink your teeth into and spend hours playing, well here's a perfect example of one.

Pure nostalgia right here

I played this game to absolute DEATH back when I had a Dreamcast many years ago, and I still think this is easily one of the best Sonic games. But that just may be me basking in nostalgia. Unfortunately, this game hasn't aged all that well.

Story
The story is nothing really to write home about but here I am. A god of destruction, aptly named "Chaos" is getting it's hands on the Chaos emeralds, turning him into a more powerful creature, with the help off Eggman of course. And it's up to you as the player to stop him! Pretty straight forward

Gameplay
Let's start off with the gameplay itself. It's your original Sonic game but remade onto a 3D plane, granted this already has been done before but this time SEGA acutally got it right. You get to enjoy the game not only from Sonic's perspective but from the perspective from other charaters such as Tails and Knuckles. Their stories are different obviously and occasionally do cross with one another. Even if you DO get sick from just "GOTTA GO FAST" then you can enjoy gameplay with Knuckles where you get to the monotonous chore of searching for Emeral shards in various levels that you visited as Sonic or run from a robt who's trying to capture you as Amy. Each character provides a lot of variety to this old game.

Graphics
The Graphics...are well...dated. But what can you expect from a game that as originally designed for the dreamcast so everything kinda looks like stretched lego figurines. The animation is alright, facial expressions can get pretty spooky at times where the character would should a face of shock and it would be a step by step revealing of their face contorting to show the emotion.

Levels
The levels are still just as enjoyable and varied for an old game. You've got one level where you running along a beach to save Tails and the next you're in a Casino trying to collect rings to build a high enough pile to get a Chaos emerald. Each level makes you feel like you're playing MORE than just a Sonic game. And to top it all off, you have a Hub world where you can run around and talk to other citizens that really have nothing to contribute to the game than just to breathe life into the world. As you run around like the rainbow colored animal you are, you can find permanent powerups that will assist you in the levels.

In the end, I recommend giving this game a try if you've never played but yet want to see where Sonic really hit home in a 3D game. Or you just want to relive some nostalgia from the good ol days when Sega wasn't continually destroying itself with each game they release
